I pushed open the door, and it was a loud party. The lights were off with red , blue and green light flashing through the room. I was mostly shocked because from behind the door I could barely hear a sound. After gazing at the party for a minute or two , I looked through the not so thick crowd in search of Jake. I was never into loud parties.....okay , I had never been to one. I soon started to feel uncomfortable being the only one in such an elegant dress.
I felt tired because I had walked through all the coners of the medium sized hall in search for Jake. I sat on a sofa that was coincidentally right behind me. I grabbed a pineapple punch from the waiter who crossed in front of me. I layed on the sofa for a while and with no sign of Jake I soon decided to exit the party.
I tried to hesitate but I was sick of being at the noisy evironment of the party. Just as I was about to exit I felt a hand on me. I turned slowly having no idea who it was. Only to see it was Jake. "Finally", I sighed in relieve. Then a waitress bumped into me and poured glasses of alcoholic drinks on me. I hated alcohol especially the smell. I almost screamed in anger but I resisted. "Hi" I said in a timid voice. "Huh?" He said. He's lips were moving but I couldn't hear a word.He leaned closer to me and said in my ear. "Let's go out. Can't hear you over the noise". I nodded in agreement and we headed to the corridor. We finally stopped. And then he started. "So.....what brings you here?". "Hmmm....invitation". I said waving the invitation card in my hand. "Yh. But I doubted u would come because....." "Listen Jake". I interupted. "I overreacted. I shouldn't have come at you in day way. I'm really sorry and........"
"Don't be" He interupted taking my hands and holding it tight. You don't need to apologise. I should have at least found means to visit you but I forgot all about you. I'm sorry. I........." Then I interupted again putting my hands on his cheek. "You know what? Let's forget about all this. Let's put it all in the past and think about the present. Hope we can be friends like we used to be".
He held me on the waste, pulling me close to him. He looked into my eyes and then he asked. "Are you sure you want us to be just friends?" He grabbed me tight slightly pulling me up. And then......... He started to come in for a kiss.
I resisted and he left me. I put my hand out and said "Yh....just friends". He brought out his hands and gave me a hand shake. He leaned close for a hug. I gave him a light hug and headed back to the party.
I sat down wondering if I should have kissed him or not. I really liked him but I really don't think it could go as far as into a romantic affection. Just then, he walked back into the party. I started to wish I had gone home instead of going back into the party. I sat there trying to avoid him from seeing me but he walked right towards me."Wanna dance?" He said in a loud voice into my ear. " No thanks". I said. Not that I didn't want to dance. I couldn't dance to the music. It sounded like music played in night clubs. "It will be fun. Just as friends let's just have a good time". He said trying to convince me into dancing with him.
I still disagreed but he kept on insisting. I then told him. " I'm not really good at dancing". "Buh I remember you were good at dancing and you loved it". He said. "Yh but not to this music". I still said in disagreement. He chukled and pulled me up and then right into the crowd on the dance floor.
" Jake!" I shouted. "I told you I'm bad at dancing". He didn't even listen to my reluctance. He dragged me further till I felt lost in the crowd. And then he held my waste and slowly, I tried moving his hands away but it came to naught. He started moving my body to the rythm of the song. He started twirling me around causing me to giggle. Soon , I started to dance and was lost in all that fun.
As lost as I was in the party , I payed less attention to the time. It was getting late. We finally stopped dancing. I felt tired. By then , the party was less crowded. I sat on a sofa together with Jake. I took my purse and picked out my phone. It was 11:55 pm!. I had to go home.
"Jake" I said softly. I have to go. He seemed to agree because I was really late. Not that I had a curfew, my mum would be worried sick. Especially now that my dad is home. And then the thought hit me. Mum never showed up at the party! Anyway, it was better that way. She would have dragged me right out noticing the kind of party it was.
I picked up my purse and stood up hurrily. I waved him goodbye and I hurried home. I had out-danced myself and I felt very tired. I took off my heels and walked, dragging my feet on the ground. I reached home. Mum and Dad were out waiting for me.
They looked disappointed for whatever reason. Mum asked me where I was and I told her. "Then why do u reek of alcohol" she said. "Mum I didn't have any.......I promise..... a waitress....." I said. "Quite!". Go to your room you're grounded." She screamed. I went without saying a word mainly because I was tired and needed some rest.
So... There I was. Grounded because off some party. It was not my fault it went on late.
I was tired. I wrapped myself in my blanket and went straight to bed.
