Rat was still seated next to you, by now back to abely putting together various bombs, each one a little different than the next; like he made them up on the spot., Staking a rather impressive pile of explosives next to him, you were surprised how quickly he could build these things. Jamie still didn't talk to you, probably still upset he lost your little word discord earlier. You felt rather good, winning another round in your imaginary game of war and power against him, a game of wit and endurance, not of physical strength; you knew you would have never won that.

You began to wonder if he felt the same about your whole relationship, that it was a game, a pastime for fun. You were aware most people would have taken this more seriously, but you just couldn't think of your interactions as solemn. You inch closer to him again, leaning over his shoulder to observe him working a bit clearer. "Wow, that's a lot of balls you got there." You attempt to joke, earning yourself a chuckle "That was about as flat as a joke can get." He answers, still tampering with one of the contraptions.

"Excuse my unsavoury lack of comedic value, I will redeem my honor later." You muse skittishly, persuading him to places aside the explosive and the tools, turning his attention back to you. You stare at each other for a painfully long moment, and you didn't even mind looking at him, it was rather pleasant in your mind. Like you mentioned many times before, you enjoyed his face, his appearance was fascinating to you. "Mouse, can I ask ya something completely unrelated?" Jamie inquiried after a good five minutes of mutual staring.

You nod abscently, still keeping eye contact shamelessly. "Do ya trust me?" He ask slowly, somewhat more serious then you are used to from him, and you didn't quite like the stern voice on him, it didn't suit him whatsoever. "Of course I do, we are friends, and partners in crime after all." You chirp reassuringly and place your hand on his shoulder, gently squeezing it. "Why do you ask?" You add to your initial answer. The Aussie glanced to the ground for a short moment, as if thinking of a suitable answer. "Jus' thought it might be good t' establish, because of tomorrow, so ya know I have your back when ya 'ave mine" Jamie murmurs, making you give him a sweet smile and take both his much larger hands into yours, you were astonished by your own, sudden sentiment.

"Hey, cheer up a bit mate, I trust you more than anyone else." You chirp mellowly as he attempted to return the smile weakly, resting his head on your shoulder. "Cheers darl" You heard him whisper as you pull him in for a hug, you felt awful for the sudden melancholy in his voice, it didn't feel right whatsoever. "No biggie, we are all a bit emotionally embittered, that's just what the wasteland makes of us." You whisper, feeling the light quaking from his skin as you carefully kiss up his slim neck. You knew that he had serious problems with things like inter human contact at times, it was almost like a on and off switch between being overly attached to completely absent.

You shuffle closer to him on your knees, leaning on top of him comfortably, your ribcage pressed to his snugly, allowing you to feel every breath and heartbeat. You could hear the tender muttering from him as you softly nibble the coarse skin of his neck, your fingers caressing along his back. You felt a lot better doing so, it was soothing, and it averted your attention away from tomorrow. And knowing that there are no big uncertainties between you, well as much as you are concerned anyway, made you feel at ease too.
