What a lovely day it was, a day so perfect and so anticipated by you it was near unbelievable it was finally there. The mild rays of sunbeams glistening against your skin, such a comforting feeling to accompany the great mood you were in. This was a important day in your life after all, one you had been working towards for so, so long now. Yes, this was the day you were going to finally become the well accomplished absolvent of the Overwatch recruit project. You had been training to become the perfect soldier your entire life now, and today you would become part of the official strike team, your giddiness was something that you couldn't hide. This was it, the big gig, becoming part of the legendary team of people who had fought of the omnic resistances for so many years now, heroes.
And you would be one of them, this was your dream ever since you were a kid, this was the start of your picture perfect career, people would tell stories of your legendary accomplishments for years to come and- "And this years best absolving student of the academy, Y/N." the announcer tears you out of the pretty painted thoughts of heroism and legends, back to the ceremony to cement your place in the Overwatch team. You swiftly check if your tie sits straight before proudly marching up the well lit stage, a self content smirk on your lips, nothing and no one could ever ruin this moment for you. Whilst thinking this you puff out your chest, taking the certificate you are handed, nimbly bowing in front of the applauding crowd of fellow student and press members; this was your moment, yours alone. You strut of the stage again, the biggest smirk stitched to your cheeks, this was absolutely amazing.
Y/N was your name, and you were dead set to let the world know it for ages to come. Was that cocky? Yes, definitely, but so were you, openly and proudly. The first people to greet you once down from the pedestal are several press members with flashing cameras, the flashing lights were more praise than words could ever be, like a shower of attention in all the best ways. This was worth the years of frustrated work and training, all those tears and hardships to become the very best (like no one ever was...) You always knew this was a big deal, and you loved it, this was a great start to a great future.
Once the flashlight thunderstorm had calmed itself, some important looking women in full uniform approached you with a proud smile "So you are the kid that blew every tester out of the water during the finals? Y/N, pleasure to meet you." She holds out her hand, which you thankfully shake "That would be me, it's a honour miss Amari." She seems astonished you know her name, but frankly, you knew every single name of the Overwatch team, creepy as that might seem. These people had been your life since childhood, your heroes, legends.
"Curious youngster, you seem well informed." She humbly praises you "Let me get you to the HQ so you can settle in first, the other are burning to meet you; new talents are always welcome. We've been reading your report, it's quite impressive." Your smile brightens instantly, so you were actually going to live at the HQs with all your idols? This was too good to be true, you repeat in your head, trying not to giggle out like a little child, you needed to keep your composure for now; professional.
