Me and my mom are currently driving up the familiar back roads of our old home.

Nightling Cove.

I just stare out longingly at the stretching ocean as the sun slowly rises.

I just wanna feel the ocean on my feet and the sun on my skin.

I have been in this car for 3 days and need to get out.

I watch as we turn the familiar bend on the gravel path leading to my sanctuary.

Home.

Mom stops the car, unlocks the doors and sits.

Staring at our house with so much pain and regret.

Her dull blue eyes shining with fear.

I silently hop out and open the trunk to grab a box.

Stepping on the porch I look back at my mom.

She sits still watching my hand hover over the handle.

I open it.

As soon as I walk in I feel safe, but also pain and sadness.

I walk up the stairs, through the familiar halls and into my room.

Looking around I take notice in my things I left behind.

My blue curtains and bed spread.

The shelves filled with seashells and memories.

The polaroids strung to the walls.

I felt a single tear run down my face and wiped it away.

I need to get away for awhile.

Running down the stairs I go out the door and down the winding path that leads to the ocean.

Once my feet touch the warm sand I'm instantly calm.

I walk to the edge of the water and stand there.

Basking in the warmth of the sun and crinkling my toes in the sand as the cool water rushes in and out.

I didn't have to tell my mom for her to know where I'm going.

She used to say I was born to the sea.

I'd spend most of my time down here.

Walking down the shore, watching the relaxing waves wash over each other.

When I'm down here I feel free.

Free to be myself and free to do anything.

The sea is like my other half, it calls to me.

Ever since I left this place I felt like I was missing something.

Now I know what I was missing.

My ocean.

°°°°

I spent the whole day by the shore.

I found a small sand dollar and brought it with me.

My mom used to collect them before we moved.

It wasn't till I noticed the sun going down that I had to go home.

Walking up the path I noticed how much warmer the air.

By the time I got home the only light source I had was the moon.

My mom isn't in the car anymore so I guess she went inside.

I walk in and find her in her bedroom.

She was looking at a picture of us and dad.

When she looked up and noticed me she smiled and motioned me over.

"I will try and be a mom from now on, I'm not gonna dwelve in my past and forget about what's right here." She tells me with a tear running down her cheek.

"I love you." I whisper to her.

"I love you too baby." We both hug for a bit.

"You have school tomorrow so go get your butt in bed." I giggle and she laughs.

"Night." I say walking out of her room and into my own.

I walk into my room and sigh as I close the door.

School?

What if everyone forgot about me?

I'm probably just some loser that lost their dad to them.

I pull on one of my long shirts and crawl under my cold covers, watching the moon from my balcony windows.

I just hope that everything will go right tomorrow.

I know! Its short! But, I'm working on it. Just gotta take it slow. My eyes feel like they are about to burn out of their sockets so imma go to bed. Hope y'all like this;) dont forget to vote!!:);)
