Keith was having another a normal day. Woke up on time, got to school before the late bell, had lunch (made by his older brother), left school, and got beat to a pulp. Yep, everything was normal, that was, until he got home.
He went straight to his and his brother's shared room. It was a fairly sized room with a bathroom and closet connected to it. They had a bunk bed and while Keith slept on the bottom buck, his brother, Takashi (also known as Shiro), had the top. He noted that Takashi wasn't there as he entered. Good he thought, he won't see me like this.
He heard a meow from the doorway and, turning to look, he saw Ruby, their cat, sitting there with her head tilted and tail wrapped around her body, lieing across her paws, as if she was examining Keith's newly obtained injuries. He knelt down to pet her behind her ear as if he was telling her 'don't tell Shiro'. Ruby purred and leaned into his touch. He then stood and started walking to the bathroom, Ruby following him, stripping as he went.
He turned to water on and waited for it to heat up, leaving the door cracked so Ruby could go if she so pleased. He suddenly felt a strange sensation on his left arm, turning to look down, he saw what appeared to be pin slowly writing down his arm but he wasn't the one doing it. Keith watched in wonder and curiosity as the lines slowly turned into a rose that covered most of his forearm.
He had heard of this happening and came to the conclusion that it was his soulmate drawing on themselves. Whoever they were, they were an excellent artist, absolutely brilliant. The rose was beautiful even as he watched the color being added as he rised the shampoo from his pitch black hair.
Even after he had gotten out and dressed, his soulmate was still working on it. The stem of the rose grew from just below his elbow and it went around his arm all the way to his shoulder where the beautiful red and blue petals blossomed.
Keith soon decided, as he lay on his designated bunk on his stomach with his face in his pillow, that he should write back or maybe even draw something... The thing is, he couldn't draw. He always wanted to learn how but never had the chance with his mother disappearing and his father in despair, he simply had no time to invest in this hidden passion of his. Wait.. this was a good time to start practicing! He could actually at least try to learn from YouTube videos or something.
So that's how Keith finally started to work on his passion, working diligently until Takashi arrived, getting back from Voltron University that, was close enough to where they lived that Shiro could still stay at his place while still attending classes. He had caught Keith in the middle of one of those YouTube videos, this one explaining how to draw flowers, like the one still residing on his left arm.
"What are you doing?" Keith didn't hear, earbuds preventing him from doing so. Shiro took one of his earbuds out, Keith's head snapping over with a scowl until he saw his brother. He paused the instructional video and looked to Takashi seriously. His brother chuckled asking again; "What are you doing, buddy?"
'drawing' Keith stated simply on the page, next to his work, he hadn't spoken since the incident. Shiro saw both, his eyes widening at Keith's art.
"You.. you drew that?" Takashi's asked, eyes still wide in amazement, referring to the drawings and multiple sketches. The younger of the two nodded, a prideful smile on his face at his brother surprise. "I didn't know you draw." Shiro said with a fond smile, he hadn't seen Keith this happy in a long while, too long in his opinion.
Keith looked triumphant from his efforts. "You're a natural, Keith." Shiro pronounced, placing a hand on his little brothers shoulder, both of them smiling. "Well," Takashi said, backing towards the door. "I'm gonna go cook, you keep up the good work work and keep me updated, alright?" Keith nodded, smiling, happy that his brother didn't pry too much and that he was as supportive as he was.
