Rorey's POV
Derek didn't really understand. He didn't understand that my parents are divorced, and that I lived with my dad, and that the fact she is at my dad's house when my dad isn't home, concerns me. Yes, I could have just told him, but he feels like a stranger to me. Ha, that's funny he is a stranger. I barely know him. So why am I stressing about him when I should be stressing about my mother. But why should he be a stranger? He seems nice enough to offer a Freshman a ride home....
"Hey. Wait." I said turning around to face him again.
"Yeah?"
"Uhm. My friends and I are having a small party to kick off the school year at the park this Saturday, you should stop by." I said as smoothly as I could.
"Oh yeah. Maybe I will. See yah." He answered and revved his engine, preparing to leave.
I happily watch him fade down the road on his motorcycle, and ever so naturally walk to the door. I walk inside and set my backpack on the hook by the door and set my shoes on the rack. I let out a sigh of relief when my feet touch the ground and I feel the fullfillment of my entire foot melt into our sand colored hard wood floors. I really hate wearing heels to school, but beauty before comfort, is how I roll. I walked around our archway and entered into the kitchen.
"Mom??" I asked, peering around, to see and empty kitchen, and a lovely cake resting on the island, she must have brought it over, but I wonder where she is now. I decided that the best thing to do was to go upstairs, change into my comfortable clothes and maybe invite someone over to watch a movie or something, my dad probably won't be home tonight anyways, so he won't couldn't care because he won't know. I traveled up the stairs and took a right, down the hall to my room. I stopped halfway when I heard some noises, coming from my dad's room. Shit.
"Mom?" I ask again, but my voice comes out as nothing but a whisper. I get scared way too easily. Not thinking I grabbed the nearest phone and a pillow to wrap around my chest in case the intruder decided to stab me. I held the phone in my hand at the ready to call 9-1-1. I slowly tip towed down the hall toward my dad's room. A few more noises came from the room.
I approach the door and hesitantly push it in and walk inside. I think I would rather kill myself.......
"Mom?" Everything happened way too fast. All I see is some semi-naked couple and some steamy ass moments. Oh my god this is horrifying. My mother turns around at the sound of her name, and the man with her sits up from the bed he was lying on. SHIT. "Dad?" Now not only am I confused, but I'm completely horrifyed, embarassed and humiliated. No child should ever see this. I swear I will be scared for life. I think my reaction was worse, because I was so shocked, I couldn't do anything. I just stood there with my mouth open and my pillow clutched around my chest, and the phone in my hand. My parents gave each other embarassed looks.
"Rorey......." My mom said, climbing off my dad and reaching for her shirt.
"You're home." My dad said looking for his glasses. "How was your first day?" he continued, I could tell he was trying to cover everything up and act like nothing happend. How was my day? I just walked in on my parents getting ready to do 'it'! Blahhh. God I hoped that nothing happened, that this was all a dream. My getting a ride home from some stranger, my DIVORCED parents getting 'dirty', and me having to witness some of that, thinking there was a robber. I turned around, my mouth still in shock, and ran down the stairs, heading towards the front door, to give them time to think things through before I walk back in and pretend like I never saw anything. Before I headed outside I grabbed my cell phone and texted Ivy.
ME: Holy. Fucking. SHIT! You need to come over NOW!
Yes, I know it would sound weird to want your friend to come over and witness something like this, too, but I know my parents and they would never bring up anything like that infornt of other people, even if they practically live here, too. SO, the sooner she comes over, the more luck I have avoiding my parents trying to confront me about what I saw. But I could tell that I wasn't the only one having family issues when I opened my front door to see Ivy just getting off her bike, I know she couldn't have gotten here that quickly, I just sent the text.
"Hurry up!" I said so relieved that she was already on her way here. This way my parents will avoid talking to me about what is going on.
"Jeez, bitch calm the fuck down I'm moving as fast as I can." She said placing her helmet on her bike handle and walking up towards me.
"Rorey, honey I can explain." I turn around to see my mother with her things coming down the stairs, with dad trailing not far behind.
"Mom." I said in a tone that screemed not now! But she didn't listen.
"No really, it was totally unnacceptable of me to-" She stopped short when she realized that Ivy had just entered the house. Yes! Avoid awkward conversations complete! "Ivy. How great to see you. It's been a while, hasn't it?"
"Yeah." Ivy said semi confused.
"Well then. I'm sorry to make things so short, but I was just on my way out. I came by to drop off a cake, and now I'm running off schedule. I'll stop by again soon. Bye honey." She said as she came over and kissed me forehead and left the house.
"....Okay?" Ivy said looking back at me. "I have to tell you something, you are going to get a kick out of this." Ivy said as she took her shoes off and turned towards me, I motioned for her to wait a minute before she continured with her story. I turned towards my dad, who was now just standing uncomfortable at the end of the staircase.
"Ivy and I will be up in our room, I understand if you need to go back into your office for last minute things, and yes I can call for pizza or something, and no we will not be up to any trouble, Ivy just wants help with Biology home work." I smiled as we passed him and continued up the stairs. I know the drill.
