TAVAR and Ashley flew to the Philippines. She convinced him to work with her instead. She promised him that Obsedia would not be hurt. He just had to convince her.
In her gut, she knew that the final battle was drawing near. She looked outside the window and found the Kinari flying. He looked at her and smiled. She never knew that he could fly this fast. He reminded her of Superman. He could fly so fast and could even fly into space. She wondered if the Kinari could fly out to space. Perhaps she could ask him one day.
Meanwhile, Yoko was peering at the window, too, waving at the Kinari.
They continued to travel up north after they arrived at the airport. The information she got said that Versimus' group was recently spotted in Baguio City. And that was where they would go.
***
HE knew the place very well. Baguio City was the place he left before he went to the Carpathian region in Romania. But Fyre didn't care. He wanted to protect Ashley if she was going into another battle.
Yes, ever since he waited for her to come out of that hidden entryway of the cave, he realized that he was in love with her at first sight. And as in his nature, like any Kinari who was in love, he followed her around.
He also helped her in catching Tavar back in Bangkok. With only one blow of his powerful hand, the vampire was rendered unconscious, falling to the floor in a huge heap.
"What's your name, by the way, Kinari?" Yoko appeared before him. But he was not startled this time.
They were in a mansion in his home city. They all rested for the night, and in a few hours, Ashley's men would arrive, and they would raid the place where Versimus and his people were hiding.
"Why do you ask, Yuki-onna?" he sternly asked. He was currently munching on pine tree leaves. Kinaras and Kinaris were vegan in nature.
"I just thought that Ashley does not know your name yet. You tell me. I'll pass it on to her," she answered while playing with her two index fingers again.
"I'll tell her myself. Good timing. She's coming," he informed the ghost smilingly.
The ghost looked up and found Ashley coming toward them. The ghost looked at him with a meaningful gaze and an evil smile. He stood straight and swallowed the leaves. His heart was beating so fast.
"I was looking all over for you, Yoko," Ashley said before her gaze settled on his face.
Yoko just giggled and turned into a white mist. She was gone in a second.
"My name's Fyre, by the way," he said to her with a smile.
She pouted. "As in Fire?"
He spelled his name like the humans' English alphabet. She nodded. "I like your name."
"And you're Ashley."
She nodded. "Yes. You heard from Yoko. I'm sure."
He nodded.
"I'm curious. Why do you follow me around?" she asked with curiosity in her chocolate eyes.
He seemed to be sucked in by the depths of those dark pools. His throat went dry. He tried to swallow and focus on her question.
"Um... because it's my fate." His face had no hint of amusement or anything.
She raised a beautifully formed eyebrow. "What?" And she laughed. Couldn't there be any words more simple but poetic than these?
He loved the sound of her laugh. It was the first time he heard her laugh. It was like music to his ears.
'Did Garem think the same with his Josie's laugh?' he wondered silently.
