Ch. 3 - Straight to the head

• Akira's pow •

Sawamura's pitching right now. I feel kinda proud of him for being able to pitch against such strong opponents. I'm running on the right foul line when I hear a bat hitting the ball. Did Eijun get hit off?

I turn me head towards them and ran backwords for a bit. All of them are looking at something in the air. I turn myself and start running straight ahead again. There! I see it! The ball is flying down in the foul zone, it's alost on the ground, missing three to four metres. I do a few fast steps and when I'm right under it I stretch out my left on and catch the ball with my bare hand.

The moment the ball's in my hand I jump up in to the air and twist my body towards homeplate. I start the throwing motion, but the moment I see the batter I change my mind. I throw the ball straight at Azuma, he deserves it.

• Miyuki's pow •

I walk to the homeplate and look around a bit. Sawamura Eijun is on the mound looking at the ball, but the younger twin is running around.

I go in to the catchers position and Azuma steps into the batters box "You look way too serious, kid! Just throw it!" he yells at the pitcher.

Sawamura looks really stiff He won't be able to pitch with even half his strenght. Let's try to loosen you up. I hit my mit with my right hand and put it in front of me, ready to catch anything that comes my way. I sit in to the catchers inside and Sawamura starts his pitching motion. The moment he's about to realeass the ball he looks at Azuma and throws the ball to the ground, I catch it either way.

Azuma yells at him for not being able to pitch, but that's not it. I call a time and go to Sawamura "Why did you throw the ball there?" I ask.

"I felt like he would've hit it if I threw it there." I'm taken back by the answer for a second. Interesting. "Hahahah. You see, that was actually Azuma's favourite location. You were really stiff, so I tought you'd loosen up if you got obliterated once." I pat him on the back and laugh.

"Thanks for the wait" I shou put and take my place as the catcher one again. I pull down the catcher's mask. Now then, let's get this monster-slaying started.

At the next pitch, Azuma doesn't swing. "That's a strike... right?" I tease Azuma. It's not the fastest pitch, but we can work on in later. I move a bit to the left, closer to the batter. If it's going to be hit, it's going to be a foul at best. Eijun throws, but it doesn't reach my mitt, the ball goes flying to the right foul zone.

All of us look at the ball, but there's someone there, under the ball, it's Eijun's twin Akira. He starts looking around and when he sees the ball, he catches it with his bare hand. It must've sting a bit. But he doesn't stop there. He twists himself and throws the ball toward us.

I stand up, ready to catch the ball, but it isn't coming towards me, it's going straight at the batter, Azuma. I jump in front of him and raise my hands up high. It's going stright at his face. The ball flyies to my mitt and I strugle to hold it. Such power! And it's spinning like crazy too! It hurts a bit.

Azuma jumps backwards and yelps out of surprise, he almost falls, but is able to stand by stumbling backwards.

I let my hands fall to my sides and look at the young boy. He's standing there, where he threw the ball. He is glaring at Az.., no, he's glaring at me! Probably for stopping he ball befour it hit Azuma in the face. He's interesting!

"Akira!" I look towards the mound, the one yelling at Akira was Eijun. "Were you trying to kill somebody! You should know by now that you can't do that, when are you going to learn. Last time you did that, you broke the coach's nose!". Really! He broke somebodys nose on purpose? And it was the coach?! It's getting even better.

Akira glares at me more for a second and then looks at Eijun. He doesn't glare at his brother like he did at me, but the anger is still there. They look at each other for a moment and then Akira starts running again. Not bothering to apologice or look at anybody else.

I walk to Eijun and hand him the ball. I want to know more about what just happened "What was that just now? Has he really broken your coach's nose?"

Sawamura keeps looking at his brother but answers "Akira didn't like Azuma, so he wanted to prove his point and now he doesn't like you eather, because you stepped in his way of doing things. But thanks, it was quite bad when he broke the coach's nose. He was banned from playing baseball at school for a few monthes. To others it seemed that he didn't care about it, but actually he was going crazy,the fact that he couldn't play baseball with his team was hurting him. Hurting us, the whole team." Wow, such a deep conversation. Yeah, moving on now!

• Akira's pow •

In the end Sawamura and Miyuki won.

The last pitch of Eijun was remarkably good , Azuma swung at it, but missed. Now it's my turn to win.

Right now we are walking towards the pitching machines, they are already set to go.

"Befour we start, Akira, I want you to apologize to Azuma, because he almost got hit be the ball you threw." Says Rei and looks at me, trying to look me in the eyes. I don't look at her and examine the bat, it seems to be in pretty good shape.

Eijun seeing, that I'm not going to answer speaks up "Rei, that's hopeless. He's not going to apologize! I don't remember when he last apologized..." Still looking at the bat I hit Eijun with my elbow, but don't raise my head when he yelps.

"I'll go first! Maybe he'll learn something befour going up to bat." Hah, he really belives that he can win. Fine! "You can ge first, maybe I'll really learn something." I say as I raise my head and smirk at him, while holding the bat with my right hand and resting it on my shoulder.

Azuma huffs in anger and heads to the batters position. Someone who's name I don't know -and don't care- goes to the machine and yells "Ready?". Azuma nods and the first ball comes. Clank!

We all follow the ball with our eyes and it's a homerun. Props to him!

In the end, he only missed one ball, it went foul.

"Try beating that kid!" I just go to the batters box and nod to the one next to the machine.
