9.

I don't know if i should apologise for this chapter or not. I was listening to this really sad song, then I got to Miley Cyrus's FU and just ended up feeling quite rebellious and bold so boom: this is the baby that Music and I just gave birth to (it's name is chapter nine). Bottom line, don't hold this against me.

........................................................................................

I wasn't thinking when I walked to english for third period. Late. Very late. Like, fifty minutes late. I had barely been thinking when I made the decision to skip it.

What? Christian may have threatened to tell my parents about my grade if he saw me do anything bad, but he wasn't here to see me do anything bad... In my defense, if I hadn't seen that damn tree, I'd have made it to class.

"Seriously, Blaire, you're going to be late," I muttered under my breath. "And now you're talking to your--"

Suddenly I stopped.

In front of me, a withering tree stood. It's spine was weak and gave easily to a gust of wind that picked up. Its arms were bare, but its hands weren't empty.

Usually avoided going down this path entirely. Like I said. Handn't been thinking.

Not knowing what else to do--be careful what you're good at, be careful what you're good at--I ran.

"Oh god, I feel sick," I muttered under my breath, and I ran to the nearest bush, dropped down onto my knees right when something started coming up my throat. But it wasn't sick. It was tears; I was about to cry. Something I hadn't let myself do in a long time.

No, please no.

The bell rang just as the vomit kicked in.

"Caroline!" I whispered to a group of people.

"Oh my god, Blaire!" she exclaimed. "Are you okay?"

"Can you get me out of here?"

"Yeah!" Grabbing me underneath my elbow, she tugged me to my feet, trying to make it look as normal as possible amongst the growing crowd. I felt like they were staring, all giving Caroline the same look: Don't you know it's dangerous to stand too close to a wild animal? Don't you?

When she asked me if I wanted to go home, I rolled my eyes.

"I can't." Christian and his stupid threat wouldn't forgive me for skipping his class, even if I threw up on his shoes to prove my point. "Long story, don't ask. But I'm going to have to go to physics."

"Well let me clean you up first." And she did, guiding me over to the bathroom directly across from our physic's classroom. "I saw you stop by your brother's remorial tree."

"It's no big deal."

"Blaire," she chastised.

"Okay, it is a big deal. But it's high time I got over myself."

Throwing a hand up to my mouth was enough of a hand signal to make Caroline get out of my way. I just made it to the sink in time. She held my hair like she did on hangover mornings. I tried to apologize amongst vomitting, but it didn't really work. She just laughed at me.

"Are you coming down with something?"

"I don't think so. I've just been feeling a little bit sick this morning."

"You pregnant?"

"Yes, Caroline. Forget the future fear of female infedelity, we can now get pregnant without having sex," I shot back, using a paper towel to wash my face before walking out of the bathroom.
