Silent,
Calming,
Soft,
Gentle,
The ocean comes and licks my heels,
It's tongue is cold and wet,
It washes away the sand,
Sinking my toes deeper,
It retreats,
Leaving it's imprint,
It's calming sound envelops me in tranquility,
I listen to it move across the land,
Each time coming to slide across my feet,
It's softness slowly digging at the sand beneath,
Up to my calfs the ground seems to grow,
The water comes again,
Eating at the ground and building it above me,
To my knees it is now,
I can barely feel my toes,
To my thighs it is now,
I can feel each grain against my heel,
To my waist it arrives,
I can't move my legs,
To my heart it arrives,
The water rushes up to my neck,
Forcing salt into my mouth,
To my chin it is now,
I can feel the tug on my hair as the water pulls away,
To my forehead it is now,
My mouth gasps for air,
Over my head it is now,
I fall silent,
Silent,
Calming,
Soft,
Gentle,
The ocean comes and licks at my heels.
