"Eli..."
It's getting closer...
"Eli... Come here.."
It's getting louder...
"Stay AWAY from me!"
"Eli...Eli..."
"Eliana!"
"Aaahhh-!" I exclaimed, finding myself waking up, nearly falling off my own bed. I immediately started trying to figure out what just went on in my head. That dream... I wonder what it was. I wonder what it meant...
"It's time to get ready for your first day of high school..." Said my older sister, Zoey, trailing off. She looked at me with great concern. Maybe she had seen the expression on my face. It must have shown that I was deep in thought.
"Are you okay, Eliana?" She asked concerningly. I didn't want her to worry about me, and she has already been protective enough. Besides, I definitely wasn't in the mood to hear one of her lectures. Not now.
Without thinking, I slumped right back into bed, tucking myself underneath the covers.
"Ugghhhh," I whined. "I don't feel like it though..." I lied.
I actually couldn't be anymore excited for my first day of high school. The freedom, the large selection of electives, new friends, and of course, the lockers. Don't get me wrong. I haven't quite adjusted to my new life away from home yet.
You see, ever since our parents died in a car accident, me and my sister were left alone with no one to live with. Even though my sister graduated college, she had a hard time finding a job, so we knew from the start that we wouldn't be able to afford rent anywhere, considering that we lived in California. So, my sister decided that we move in with my aunt in... uhh.. some state.... yeah... all I know is that it's pretty far from Cali. I'll miss my friends, but this move was for the best.
I've been under the blanket for a while now, so I checked the time.
"7:00!?'"
There's no way that I stayed under there for that long! School starts at 7:30! I have to hurry before I'm late for my first day.
I jumped out of bed, and nearly killing myself trying to get to my closet. I grab my school uniform and rush to the bathroom and put it on. While doing so, I admire the uniform's layout. It was a navy blue mini skirt, bow, and blazer with a white button up shirt.
When I put it on, I overall liked it. Well, except the fact that it was almost 5 inches above my knee. I mean, come on! What kind of school would allow this to be worn on the premises? Apparently, high society schools like this one allows it.
I admired myself in the mirror, brown curly hair and all. I looked at my light skinned face with disgust. I've never really fit in with the kids at my old school, being a hafu and all. I mean, of course I had friends, but, that didn't stop people from judging me based on my looks. I hope it'll be different this time.
If you're anything like me, you're probably curious about this new school of mine. Well, for one, it's named Melifina Preparatory. And, to be honest, the only other thing that I know about this place is that it's filled with high society people, meaning rich and/or smart people. The only reason I was able to get into this school was because of my academic achievements. I wonder who came up with the name of the school. Nevermind, I have to get going.
I rush downstairs to the kitchen to fix my breakfast.
***************
"You have everything, right? Your backpack? Phone? The school directory? Pads?"
Zoey and I were standing outside in the driveway, about to say our goodbyes, which wouldv'e went by quicker if she wasn't being so awkward.
"ZOEY..."
"I know, I know. I need to chill out, right?"
"You also have to ask Auntie Mae for a heads up. She helped me prepare everything for school, yesterday, while you were at work, of course."
"Too bad she wasn't here this morning to tell me that herself" Zoey chuckled. I laughed with her. It felt nice to have some bonding time like this, but I could never tell her that straight up.
"Oh, shoot! I almost forgot, I'm gonna be late if I don't-"
"Wait right here for one second. I have to get something." Said Zoey, cutting me off. How rude!
She ran back inside the house and came back in what seemed like less than a minute, which felt like forever, considering that I was already late for my first day.
"Zoey, I swear, if you wasted my time for some picture, I'll-"
"Here, mom wanted you to have this when she thought you were old enough. But, since she's gone, I guess that she wouldv'e wanted me to give this to you now." I was going to say something about her cutting me off like that, but when she mentioned mom, I just didn't have the heart to say anything.
I didn't notice until now that her fist was closed. She opened it revealing a beautiful silver necklace with a diamond compass rose pendent.
"I-It's beautiful..." I said in awe.
"It is, isn't it?' Said Zoey. I could tell by the look on her face that she was reminiscing about the times we had with mom. Then, she suddenly snapped out of it.
"Anyways, you should be on your way, shouldn't you? You wouldn't want to be any later than you already are."
"I wonder whose fault is that..." I said sarcastically, but jokingly.
"Whatever, just go have a good day at school."
"I will... I love you." I said the last part quietly, I hope she didn't-
"Love you too, sis!"
Crap. She even cut me off during my thinking process. She has a serious problem.(A/N) Hey guys and gals, Marie here! So, this is my first story, ever.
