Percy was 8. He had dyslexia and ADHD so the kids at his old school had always made fun of him, but not anymore. He'd just enrolled at Goode Elementary and today was his first day of school. As he walked in the room, he was met with a lot of a classroom full of kids who were already familiar with one another, throwing paper airplanes and shooting spit wads. He rushed to the first desk he saw, careful to dodge the firing squad. As he approached the seat, he was met with the face of a pretty blonde girl, sitting on the seat next to his. She was looking down dejectedly.

Percy wondered if he should say something to her, so he as he opened his mouth, the stupidest thing came out, "You're pretty and your eyes look like angry storm clouds". She looked at him for a second, and he wasn't sure if she was going to slap him or cry. A wide smile spread across her face.

"Thanks, I'm Annabeth." She responded.

"I'm Percy." He would've said more but just as he was going to talk to her, the bell rang and the teacher came inside. All of the kids who'd been fooling around scurried to their seats, panicking.

They went over, the date, numbers, the alphabet, and some math before the bell rang for lunch time.

Percy walked around the blacktop during lunch. He was lonely. He then saw Annabeth sitting on her own at the bench ahead of him and he contemplated whether or not he should go up and talk to her. Just as he decided and started walking in her direction, a boy with carefully parted to the side blonde hair, a tucked in, neatly plaited collared shirt, and fitting jeans came up to him. Percy thought he must be a serious Momma's Boy at first, with his well dressed and taken-care-of-vibe, but this boy seemed independent.

     "Hi, I'm Jason," said the blonde
     "I'm Percy" he said back
