It's been so long since he's heard from el because her and hopper were gone outside of the country as a vacation, from what Mike heard.
He missed her, but he couldn't reach out to her. It hurt him but he was trying to live with it. Until he's heard that she was back, but not home. She got into a pretty bad accident and was put in hospital. His parents drove him to the hospital and he raced inside and into the reception.
"El- sorry I mean Jane hopper, which room?!" Mike asked completely out of breath. The women searched into a small paper as he was gonna snatch the paper off her hands and just look which number was her room.
"Jane hopper... Oh here it is, room 370." She said and Mike quickly ran off and searched around for the room.
Mike finally found the room and was about to walk in then realised he should knock.
He couldn't knock, he just wanted to walk in there. He wanted to know if she was okay or not. Hurt or not. "Come in." He heard someone say from inside. It was definitely hopper.
Mike opened the door walking in and closing it behind him. He ran to her bed as she was laying down on the hospital bed. her face was full of cuts and red marks, left arm casted, as she was connected with all these machines in the room and her heart beat echoed around. His hand flew to his mouth and started crying-sobbing.
Hopper came and hugged him. He wanted to ask what happened but he knew he would choke on his words, it hurt him seeing her that way he just wanted to hug her. But not now.
"W-w-what h-happened? Why does she- she look like this? What-" Mike stopped as he continued to cry. "Shh it's okay, she'll be fine. You'll be fine."
Hopper had to leave for the police station after a while of Mike arriving. He told him to stay with el, and so he did. Of course he wouldn't leave her.
Mike sat beside her on the bed holding her hand as he just stared down at her waiting for her to wake up. It was 10pm which was the time he'd sleep, but No, he can't sleep. He's not gonna get any sleep until el was awake, talking to him.
Her eyes started opening slowly, as she looked at him, she couldn't believe he was there, holding her hand. She could swore that she was feeling better at this point. A small smile made it's way to her face.
"Mike." She said gaining his attention. He looked at her, almost tearing up. "El? El you're awake.. You're finally awake." He said and started crying. Her hand touched his face and wiped his tears away.
"Are you hurt? Who hurt you? What happened? Are you okay?" Mike asked her all these questions. She barely could talk but she had to tell him. She doesn't want to lie.
"I'm- I'm okay.."
"El, don't lie." Mike said, still wanting the truth.
"Mike.. I promise I'm okay." She really was okay, just as soon as she woke up and saw him beside her, she was feeling better.
Mike leaned down and hugged her.
"I love you." Mike said out of nowhere, still hugging her. He always knew he loved her, he just didn't know when to tell her, but now, he had to tell her. Even if she doesn't feel the same.
He pulled back looking into her tired eyes.
"You- you love Me?" El asked.
"Yes, I love you, el." Mike replied grabbing her hand again.
He wasn't waiting for her to say it back, he was gonna be just fine if she didn't say it back, she doesn't have to love him back and he understood that.
It's been three days for el in the hospital, and she was getting better each day she stayed in there. So hopper decided to sign her out of the hospital because el hated staying there. She doesn't like hospital environment.
Mike visited her at her cabin after a day of her leaving, which also meant four days since he confessed his love for her. She never said it back, it kinda hurt him but he knew he should accept it.
It was getting late and el had to go sleep, so mike helped her to her bed and she sat down on it. Mike was confused. "Is everything okay?" He asked and she looked at him. "We- we need to talk." El replied.
Mike nodded and sat down beside her.
"Tell Me." Mike said ready to listen to whatever she was about to say.
"I love you, too." El said, without hesitation.
She was thinking about it this whole time, she knew she felt something towards him but she never realised it was love.
Mike was surprised, he never thought she'd say it back, he thought she'd drop it. He smiled. "R-really?" He asked with a big smile on his face. She nodded smiling back as they hugged.
He loved her, she loved him. They love each other, and that's all that matters.
