Joey was coming over any minute now to eat dinner with my father, my sister and I. My sister is 12 and her name is Chelsea, and I am 15 and my name is Crystal.

I walked downstairs, to see Chelsea with my parents getting ready. I felt so nervous and awkward.

"I hope this boy is worth it," My dad huffs.

"Shush," I hear my mother scold him, and my sister's quiet laugh.

I walk into the kitchen. "Please don't be rude to him."

My family all stare at me. "Seriously," I add, and the doorbell rings.

I walk with my family to greet Joey at the door.

He's standing there with flowers, and he hands them to my mother. "Hello, Mrs-"

"Call me Kate," she smiled, taking the flowers, "It's lovely to meet you."

"Lovely to meet you too, Kate," Joey smiled, then turned to my other family members. "You must be the famous father!"

My dad laughs, thank God. They bro-hug, and Joey politely hugs my sister before we all walk to the dining area.

The dinner went really well, thank God. My dad and Joey got along very well, and I could tell my mother loved Joey. My sister was polite to him but other than that, had not much to do with him for the evening.

Once Joey left and my father had promised him a basketball one-on-one, and my mother and sister went to have showers and stuff, my dad turned to me.

"That boy, Joey... he loves you," my dad says.

I smiled. "How do you know?"

He just chuckled and said-

"Because he looks at you the same way I look at your mother."
