"I told you, Lizzie," Joey says to me, "you're literally beautiful."

"Leave me alone, Joey. I can't do this anymore. I'm sick of it," I say, feeling the tears rush down my face. I breathe in quickly, my lip quivering.

I felt so stupid.

"Lizzie, please," he pleads with me through the door.

I felt him slide down, leaning against the door. He's sitting on the ground. As if by nature, I do the same.

"I'm sorry, Joey," I say.

"It's okay," he whispers, "please just listen to me."

I stay silent as I listen.

"You mean so much to me... Please don't say this stuff about yourself," he begs.

I stand up and I hear him do the same. I open the door to face him.

"Lizzie," he says, pulling me into a hug.

"Joey... I can't," I say, walking away and to my room. "Just go."

I hear him hesitate with his steps a few times before he decides to leave. "I love you," he calls out as he walks out the door.

"I love you too," I whisper, feeling my eyes become heavy, as I lay on my bed.

I woke to the sound of my bedroom door swinging open and my curtains being pushed back.

I sit up, and see the sun was still up, but barely. But it wasn't sunset yet.

I turn to see Joey.

"Joey? What are you doing here?" I ask, looking at him.

He responds with singing the lyrics to one of my favourite songs.

"You're insecure
Don't know what for
You're turning heads when you walk through the door
Don't need make-up, to cover up
Being the way that you are is enough."

His singing voice has me laughing. He really is trying.

Suddenly, Charles, Chad, Mark and Aaron walk in. Aaron and Chad are singing the instrumental parts whereas Mark and Charles join in with Joey.

"Everyone else in the room can see it
Everyone else but you."

Suddenly all boys begin yelling the lyrics and jumping around. I laugh more than anything I've laughed at in the world.

The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed

Joey ran up to me and pulled me off my bed and made me dance along with them. We were all laughing and singing by now. I felt so... Special. And beautiful.

We sang the rest of the song while I was cleaning my room and they were continuing to dance and be silly.

At the end of the song, I ran up to Joey and surprised him with a hug.

"I love you," he whispers in my ear.

"I love you too Jo," I answer, and we kiss. It was a slow, timed kiss. It was a perfect kiss for the moment, his arms wrapped around my waist, mine around his neck.

I thanked all the boys, and when they left, Joey and I laid down on my bed and watched some Netflix.
