Jasmine

Going to this ball is a very very very big mistake. Chris was nowhere in sight after he insisted that we make a grand entrance. It was grand, alright. People were staring. I don't know why I agreed. Chris is making me do things I know I won't do when I'm alone or with my friends.

Right after that, he went on with his business of flashing his smile to women and later on getting what he wants. I was fine, at first, because I came here, made a grand entrance with my "date" and they're serving food fast.

Now that I've run out of things to do, I'm just standing here awkwardly looking like a loner. I look so far from the girl who made that entrance.

I could make my way through the crowd, find someone like me (loner and standing against the wall) and communicate, maybe get some new clients, but at this point I don't even want to do that. I just want to go home.

I had a plan- I was going to go to the bathroom, and sneak out. It was a brilliant plan because I was planning take my hair out and wash the make-up off so only a few would recognize me.

I was headed towards the bathroom when somebody stopped me.

"Hello." He said, flashing me a smile that looks familiar.

"Hi." I was going to play dumb, just stare at him for a few seconds and continue walking but I didn't want to be rude. Plus, he's cute.

"Would you like to dance?" He said, grinning at me.

"Uhm, sure?" I said and he took my hand and led me to the dance floor.

I didn't know what I was getting myself into. First, I never danced with a stranger before. Most of the time I dance with my friends and those are all to fast songs. Not to slow songs like this one!

Thankfully I knew the basics, so I just went along.

"So, what's your name?" He asked me.

"Jasmine." I said, looking him straight in the eye.

"You're not going to ask my name?" He said smiling.

"Do I need to? What are the chances I'm going to see you again after this?" I said.

"We can make that happen, you know." He said, smiling at me.

I felt my cheeks heat up. Why does he have to smile like that towards me?

"What's your name then?" I asked, now getting interested.

"Jacob." He said, and after that I just kept my mouth shut. I smiled at him and we just continued to dance.

Even though no one was talking, it was the comfortable kind of silence. And it was weird that I'm having that kind of silence with a stranger.

"I see you've met my brother." My thoughts were interrupted by Chris, who were staring at Jacob.

"Oh, so that's why." I muttered to myself.

"What can I do for you, Chris?" Jacob said, letting go of my waist but still holding my hand with his other.

"Well I would like to talk to my date, if you don't mind." He said. Even though they were completely calm, I can feel the tension between them. They're way too polite towards each other.

"Your date?" Jacob smirked.

"Yes, my date." Chris said in a serious voice.

"I didn't know you had a date. The way you mingled with those ladies…" He said smirking, again.
