"Namjoon!"
I pushed Hoseok out of the way as he stood still like a statue. Dazed, just staring at Namjoon unconscious on the floor.
I dashed my way to him and tapped his shoulders. "Are you okay?"
No response...
"Hello Namjoon, Are you okay? Can you hear me?"
Again no response...
I wasted no time and started to touch his neck looking for the Carotid Artery (Artery on the neck).*Wow, his skin is so cold.* I felt a pulse vibrating on my fingertips. *Thank god he has a pulse* Just by feeling it I could tell it was pulsing very rapidly. *Abnormal*
I then took my attention to his chest, I watched as he inhaled and exhaled. *Good Respiration*
My eyes change its direction and I began to examine his appearance. Pallor (pale), clammy skin, and hyperhidrosis (profused sweating). Diabetes? Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) or Hyperglycemia (high blood sugar)?
~Flashback~
"Pallor, Clammy Skin, Hyperhidrosis... Those are all symptoms of Hypoglycemia and even Hyperglycemia. If a patient faints, and you don't have a glucose meter to check their glucose level. Always treat for Hypoglycemia first. See if the symptoms change or not. Hypoglycemia is very dangerous and can be deadly. Hyperglycemia is also, but if you treat it as Hypoglycemia. It won't hurt the patient, but if you treat Hypoglycemia as Hyperglycemia and give the patient Insulin. The patient can die. Remember treat Low blood sugar first."
~End Of Flashback~
Hypoglycemia!
"Hoseok! Hurry bring me the diabetes kit, I need it STAT (immediately)." I yell towards Hoseok
"Okay.." Hoseok begins to search for the kit with shaky hands.
"Here Maryssa" ~Hoseok. He hands me the kit and I take out the Orange Juice.
"Hoseok please evalate up his legs for me."
"okay" ~Hoseok
With the Orange Juice in my hands. I lift up his head slightly as I gentle pour the OJ into his mouth. Hoping the sugar in the OJ can bring back his consciousness. *We need more help, I need to call for another person. They can take his glucose level while Hoseok and I keep on assisting him.*
"Ms. Smith" shouting out loud to see if Ms. Smith the librarian was there. *she can surely help us* "Please help us!"
"Maryssa, What's wrong Honey?"~ Ms. Smith
"Someone fainted, He's my classmate.. I believe he has low blood sugar, but I'm not sure. Can you please take the Glucose meter and check it for me please."
Ms. Smith grabbed the meter and began doing the procedures. Pricking his finger and putting blood on the strip.
"55"
0.0 My eyes widen at the glucose reading *His blood sugar is very low* I continue to pour OJ into his mouth. While pouring OJ into his mouth I noticed his sweating is getting progressively worse. I gotta cool him down. I put the OJ down and fan him with my hand. * I have to wipe off his sweat*
"ZIP" zipping off the jacket I was wearing. I took it off a used it as a towel. To slowly sweep off all the sweat from his forehead and neck.
~Few minutes passed~
"60" Ms. Smith monitoring his blood sugar
*Still low, this is going out of hand... He can be in serious danger. I need to take out the glucagon tube. This will definitely rise it up back to normal immediately.*
