Hyland is a scruffy young man, still trying to get on his feet after moving out of his mother's house after her passing from leukemia. He is still struggling with paying off her medical expenses, and can barely even afford the basic things in life, like rent for his dingy apartment.
He is working as an artist, with virtually no other skills other than a small musical background, and collaborates with a group called "Extensive Expressions," or "EX^2" for short. They are a small business hoping to become a chain of essentially craft stores. He does designs, jingles, and helps network, all while being payed quite a pretty penny just for making the shop look nice in every location. However, when everyone's favorite (and his supervisor), miss Leila Dewhurst, opens up to him, he wants nothing to do with her.
Will Leila and Hyland develop a friendship, or will his life absolutely crash and burn?
