Sylvie stood at Nara's door, smiling with a gift in her hands. It was their one month anniversary. The door swung open, and Nara stood in the frame.
"Sylvie-" Nara began.

"Hi!" Sylvie threw her arms around her girlfriend, still concealing the present she held in her hand.

"Sylvie," Nara pushed her off of her.

Sylvie stumbled back, hurt and confused.

"Sylvie I'm breaking up with you."

"What?" Sylvie whispered. Her eyes were wide open in confusion. "Why are you-"

"Goodbye Sylvie."

The door slammed shut. What was happening? Just yesterday they were getting yelled at for kissing in the cafeteria. Laughing together, hugging each other. It was pretty naive but Sylvie thought they had been in love...

She did nothing but wander around the town for hours. Not walking anywhere in particular. Her brain was static. She couldn't make herself even think about what had happened, let alone process it.
She looked up from the ground and realized it was dark. She checked her phone.

10:30

No texts from anyone either. She'd been walking for hours and she barely noticed. Except for the dull pain in her heels, she felt nothing. She continued to walk.

It suddenly hit her. Nara broke up with her. She really did. This wasn't a dream nor was it a joke. This was really. The girl she loved left her.

Millions of thoughts suddenly flooded into her mind, like the dam that was keeping her numb had broken.

'She hates me'
'This is all my fault'
'I loved her. She was pretending.'
'I'll never find someone else like her'
'She hates me.'
'She hates me.'
'She hates me hates me hates me.'

"She hates me," she whispered aloud.

The street was dark apart from a dim street lamp just above her. A tear fell down her cheek. Then another. And another. Before she knew it, she was bawling. She walked slowly, still unsure of where to, and was shaking. She looked up and realized she was on the street Natalie lived on.

----------------------------------------------

Natalie heard a knock on her front door. She looked at her phone. It was 11:27 who the hell was knocking?
Her parents were out for dinner, so she was just sitting on the couch watching some TV. She thought maybe her parents got locked out or something, so she got up to open the door.

The door was unlocked and swung open to reveal Sylvie. She was shaking, and crying. She threw herself forward into Natalie's arms.

"Oh my god! Sylvie what happened?" Natalie asked, worry evident in her voice.

Sylvie sniffled and said something into Natalie's shoulder that was muffled by her sweater.

"I didn't hear that. What happened."

Sylvie pulled away and looked her in the eye.

"She broke up with me."

"What?"

"Nara! Nara broke up with me."

"I... What happened?" Natalie ushered Sylvie up to her room.

"I was bringing her this," she held out the gift in her hands. "It was our one month anniversary."

"Oh Sylvie." Natalie hugged her.

"I just don't know why she would do this," she sobbed.
