It's twilight, the sky a mix of orange, red and pink hues. Two young men, Dan Howell and Phil Lester, are sitting on a grassy hill overlooking a meadow filled with dandelions. Their hands barely touch as they admire the beauty around them.

Dan looks at Phil and his smile grows just a little wider. He takes Phil's hand in his and stands, pulling the other man up with him. Before Phil can react, Dan runs to the field of dandelions, pulling him along. They run through the delicate flowers, the soft petals caressing their legs.

Phil sneaks a nervous glance at Dan. Dan suddenly flops down and rolls back and forth, laughing. He stops and grins up at Phil. The paler man smiles weakly. Dan beckons Phil closer and Phil obeys. Dan, again surprising the other man, pulls Phil down beside him. Their faces are mere inches from each other and Dan closes the small distance by touching his forehead to Phil's.

Phil smiles and kisses Dan's nose. They stare into each other's eyes, their expressions ones of blissful contentment. Dan cups Phil's face and kisses him on the lips. Phil responds immediately and opens his mouth allowing Dan's tongue to invade it. Seconds later, they pull away, flushed and panting.

The warm breeze tickles their skin and they press themselves even closer together. Dan sighs and buries his face into the crook of Phil's neck. Phil wraps his arms around Dan's frame. Dan pulls down Phil's left arm and reconnects their hands and puts them between their bodies.

They lay there, smiles on their faces in comfortable silence.

The sun has fully set and a crescent moon shines, bringing an ethereal light to the meadow. Dan and Phil are still in the same position, pressed as close as they can manage, their legs wrapped around each other. Fireflies fly around them, bathing the two young men in their light and enhancing the romantic atmosphere.

Suddenly the light is extinguished, and Phil opens his eyes and looks up, seeing dark clouds in the sky. A raindrop falls and Phil feels it hit his cheek. More come down and seconds later, it's raining fully. Dan, now awake, takes Phil's hand and they run out of the meadow. They take shelter under a tall, thick tree.

The rain has let up. Dan and Phil kiss one last time before going in opposite directions.

Phil lays in his bed, and glances at a calendar on the nightstand. It reads the fourth of July. His eyes turn to a small wooden box next to the calendar. He gets out of bed and goes over to the box. He opens it to reveal a slightly withered dandelion. He smiles and takes the flower out. He twirls it in his fingers gently before placing it back in the box and closing it.

He gets back in bed and closes his eyes, the smile still on his face.

I plan on writing another story that connects with this one. I hope you enjoy it. Again, give me suggestions for other pairings and songs.
