Crying

When I was little, people around me always discouraged crying since they 'claimed' crying is for little girls.Being the sexist little boy I was,I followed that 'rule' by the people around me.But when I actually think about it,why do they CARE that much about me (or rather, males in general) crying.

They always say that crying 'doesn't solve problems'.But neither does verbally or physically hurting people, which are supposedly alternatives of crying.I mean like, how are you supposed to find good solutions when you are just piling up depression or anger and they take over you?Crying, for me at least,is a release of emotions, which helps to calm down and maybe even find out solutions to the problem. If you can think straight with emotions restraining you heavily, you are classified as a legend to me.

"Big boys don't cry" they say.For me at least,it is actually "Big boys should hide your feelings and feel bad forever".Hiding feelings is never wise. Our emotions are ready to erupt anytime.Hiding your feelings and not find a way to express yourself is worse since depression or anger doesn't always fade by tomorrow morning. It can last for a week , a month or maybe an eternity. And the more you hide, more bad emotions are controlling you actions that might harm you in the long run.Crying for me provides a lesser reason to hide your feelings and more on expressing yourselves to prevent that from happening. Many people are saying that people should express themselves, but teaching them to HIDE their emotions and telling them to express themselves. Is it a bit TOO ridiculous?

But right now,I'm just abiding the old 'rules' of things.I'm still only using crying as a last resort(but sadly, according to many people,it is also not allowed). The thoughts of people cannot be changed easily and I hope that this sexual bias will end soon.
