"So ?"
I opened the car, and both me and Ellie hopped in. I put the keys in the engine and its roaring mixed with my sigh. "It's okay", I nodded, and she turned to face me. Her brows were knitted together questionably, "Okay ? That's it?". She asked making me nod again.
I took off and drove to the main street which was crowded by now much more before. I saw Ellie broken down car and went past it.
Noticing Ellie was still staring at me in half disbelief – half exception, I sighed. "Not that excited". I replayed as I pushed my back further to the back of the seat.
"I should've told him how lazy you're", Ellie mumbled as I chuckled. Shifting my position, I placed my elbow on the window-sill and just focused into the road in front of me.
Yeah lazy. I should have been lying in bed right now and not looking for a job.
And why was that even my fault? It's all James'. He's the one directly associating with the big bosses and he can convince them to make the delivery come with money along. That way I'll find some fund to spend on my drinks.
It was kind of my fault too, if I was being honest. Or maybe I should've had just blamed my parents and brother? After all, they were the ones who left and the ones that caused all this.
I sighed, shaking my head in desperation to forget and think about something else.
This wasn't working as good as it had been few months ago, I thought to myself.
Months ago I had been fine, with everything needed and with less money needed and less work. Everything was so easy until James started rising the cost so that he'd get all the money for himself.
Diving in my thoughts didn't let Ellie's disapproved sigh slip unnoticed. For that I didn't react at all.
A loud noise suddenly ringed, without making me jump this time. I looked to my left and Ellie held her phone and replayed.
"Okay dad, I'll see what I can do. Okay..Love you too, bye". Ellie threw the phone to the back seat with annoyance flashing in her eyes before she sighed and pulled on a forced smile. I frowned with confusion, she never seemed that annoyed with her father. She was always the obedient daughter who every parent would want to have.
"What's wrong?" I inquired. Ellie forced a laugh before tapping on her thighs. "Nothing…" She trailed off. I cocked my head to the side as I saw her closing her eyes tightly then sighing again.
"He knows I hate it when people break their words" She blurted out, and that's when I laughed.
Ellie hated anyone who's late and who gives a 'no' after a certain 'yes'. I guess that's the big deal with her father that made her that angry and upset. I chose to not ask any more when she glared at my loud snickers.
"Saam ?" She sang, looking at me with puppy eyes and a pout. "Would you pick me up for school next morning?"
"You think I'm going to say no to you?"
Ellie's lips contorted into a smirk, "Of course you won't. I bet you're already willing to see your prince charming". I rolled my eyes and looked away, avoiding her gaze. His mention was never a comforting topic to speak about. It made me feel weak and pathetic. That's how love or even a tiny crush is. Weakness.
"How many times do I have to tell you that it's over ? I'm over with him". I shook my head and heard her giggle. She would just never stop.
"Just shut up".
Ellie's body suddenly stiffened to the point I noticed it from the corner of my eye. I peered a glance at her to see her looking in the side mirror intensely. My eyes shot to the rear mirror but saw nothing unusual at all. Only cars driving, and some passing us.
