~Chapter Six~ ~Deep Sleep~ ~James P.O.V.~

I let the hot water hit my back for a long time. Why had I snapped like that? Why do I think she's so important? She's just another wizard that I need to kill so I can kill him. I needed to kill 100 wizards to get the blood sword. Then I could stand a chance.

The book that I had, Demons and Warlocks, explained everything. I needed to kill 100 wizards and make them loose at least a couple pints of blood each so that I can wield the blood sword. It's a sword entirely make of blood. Wizard blood. It's a sword that can kill the most powerful of demons. And I need it.

I turned off the water and stepped out of the shower. Steam had filled the room. I threw on my pajamas. Wait. I need to call Danny. Shit. I also left my phone in the theater. Damn it! I guess I can use the phone down in the lobby.

I slowly crept to the door, not wanting to awake Levy. I opened the door and grabbed the keys. When I was outside I locked it and ran down to the lobby. The lobby was almost completely empty except for the guy at the front desk who works the night shift. He's probably wondering why I'm in the lobby in pajamas at about two or three o' clock in the morning.

I picked up the phone and dialed Danny's number. It rang at least five times before he answered.

"Hey, it's James." I said.

"Hey. Why are you calling me at like 3:00 in the morning?" Danny replied.

"Look, it's a long story. We need to stay here a few more weeks, think you can get us another flight?"

"Ugh, what happened?"

"Like I said, It's a long story."

"I got time. There's no point in going back to sleep now, I have to go to work in a couple of hours."

"Fine. I had left my phone in the movie theater and it closed so we had to walk home since I couldn't call a cab. We were walking and stopped outside a convenience store and I told Levy to wait inside. I walked inside to buy something and when I walked out I couldn't find Levy. There was a dark alley next to the convenience store and Levy foolishly wandered there. When I entered the alley she was pinned against the wall by two men. One with a knife and one with a gun. The gun was pointed at her head and she was shirtless. Her shirt was cut in half. One of the guys was about to unhook her bra and they had kinda sorta cut a line in her chest with the knife. I had saved her and it was really deep so she had to get stitches. Dr. Taylor wants to see her in two weeks to see how shes healing. So, we need a later flight."

For a few minutes there was silence on the other line.

"I'm buying a ticket over there now. "

"No, no, no, she's fine. It's fine. you don't need to do that. Stay at your new job, if you don't you'll get fired."

"Fine. I'll mail you new tickets to California and I'll extend your stay at the hotel."

"Thanks."

I hung up the phone. I still don't know why I care so much. Whatever. I looked at the time. 4:00. I walked back up to the hotel room and closed the door silently behind me. Levy was in a deep sleep. Now could be my chance. I walked to the kitchen area and grabbed a knife. I walked back over to the bed, the knife in my hand. I held it up. I can do it. I can save everyone. I can finally be the hero. No. I can't. My arm won't let me do it. My brain won't let me stab her. Why not? She's the one hundredth wizard. I can kill Kranos if i do this. But my mind just wont let me.

I fell to my knees, tears streaming down my cheeks. "W-why can't I do it?" I asked no one in particular. "Why?" I dropped the knife and buried my face in the palms of my hand. I sat there for hours, sobbing on the floor. I'm a pathetic weakling. I can't kill one mage. I-I don't deserve to live.

At 6:00 I got up and put the knife away. I wiped away my tears and sat in the corner on the floor. I don't understand anything. I don't even understand why I saved her if I want her dead. Well I'm the one who has to spill her blood, but I could've grabbed the gun and shot her.

About ten minutes later Levy woke up. She stretched and yawned, then looked at me with a puzzled expression. "Did you sleep?" She asked. I shook my head, realizing I must look like a mess. "Anything planned for today?" Levy asked me. "No, you should get some more rest. You lost a lot of blood." I said, concern in my voice. Levy rolled her gorgeous brown orbs. "Why do you suddenly care about me?" She asked, annoyance in her voice. The annoyance actually surprised me.

I rolled my eyes. "I told you, I'm kind. I'm sparing your life, show some respect." I said, trying to cover up the trace of sadness in my voice. She rolled her eyes again, then climbed back into bed. "Care to join me?" She asked. "What?" I said. She rolled them again. "You haven't slept at all. You need sleep. Do you want to sleep on the bed? It is queen sized." She said in a matter-of-fact tone. "Fine."

I crawled into the bed with her and drifted off into a deep sleep within seconds.
