Mom watched as I got into a limousine with my luggage. She smiled and waved as a tear rolled down her face. I waved back and smiled. Crow got into the limousine and closed the door. He told the driver to get going as we drove down the hill.

I looked to see my hatchet on Crow's belt. "Don't think about taking that. I'm keeping it for now. You should know, going to the capital with a weapon on you isn't the best idea." He said as two agents came over and sat across from us.

The other two agents were emotionless as I stared at them intently. "Where are we going?" I asked to bring up conversation. Crow looked at me. "We're going to a nearby town to pickup one of the other competitors. She has a very interesting background, but for now you'll get to know her as the girl of poison." Crow said as the limousine drove out past the town.

Time passed as we entered a small town called Mifflinburg. It seemed peaceful with very few shops and towns. "That's our destination." Said Crow pointing at a mansion on the hill.

The limousine pulled in past the gates and went to the entrance of the mansion. Crow stepped out and knocked on the door. A man and a woman, dressed very formally, stood at the front door. I couldn't hear the conversation, but it seemed like the couple were smiling during the entire conversation. Then from behind them stood a girl about my age with long red hair, a golden dress, and had makeup on her face that made her look like a reptile.

She looked upset as she slowly walked over to limousine. The couple kept talking to Crow as the girl entered the limousine. She looked at me, but didn't bother to say anything. We were the only two in the limousine, so I decided to bring up conversation.

"Hi..., I'm Austin." I said nervously. She looked at me with disgust in her eyes. "I.. see you got a nice place... I hear you're a poison elemental." I managed to get out. "I hate it here." She said in a disgusted tone. I felt a little awkward speaking again. "What's wrong with this place?" I asked her. "It's not the place really, it's my parents who adopted me. They're the problem." She said disgusted. "What happened to your parents?"

"They were killed after I was born. I never got to meet them. Then I got adopted by these ungrateful pieces of shit and lived my life in this joke of a place. They didn't let me see anyone outside of this mansion, so I never attended school. You're the first boy I've met around my age and I'm happy to finally get away from this place. They forced me to wear this stupid looking dress, because they wanted me to look fashionable. I can't stand them at all."

"Damn... I lost my family too. My dad.., my brother... I watched them die... ten years ago. It still haunts me to this day." I said feeling upset. The girl leaned over and looked at me. "What are you going to do then? Will you seek revenge? Will you stop the government from killing Elementals? You could change everything if you do something about it. So, tell me. What will you do?" She asked as she smiled.

I didn't know what to tell this girl at first. She hit me with some hard hitting questions. I breathed heavily to clear my mind of nervousness. Then I smirked. "I want to make a world where everyone can live in peace. Humans and Elementals can all live under the same laws. No one has to die, but in order for this world of peace to happen, something needs to happen."

The girl smiled and leaned back in her seat. "So, you have been thinking about it. I never got to talk to another elemental before, so I've always wanted to know what one's intentions would be. What elemental are you?" She asked me.

"I'm a fire elemental and I'm here to fight through it all." I said as I smiled. My eyes turned a bright yellow as I got excited. "So you're body temperature changes, because of your emotions. Well, listen here fire boy. I was chosen as the girl of poison. The name is Lyra and I'm here to fight for a future as well."

Lyra and I locked eyes and smiled. "What happens when we get in the arena?" I asked. "Stay out of my way for now. Someone like you, I want to keep alive. I know I'm stronger than you, but I can't kill someone who wants to change the world the same way I want to. When we get to the capital, that's when our plan to change the world will begin."

Crow and the other agents walked over to the limousine and opened the side door. "I see you two are getting to know each other. Maybe you two could be something big. You both have goals, don't you? Maybe you could be the next fighting duo everyone will talk about." Crow said as he sat down and closed the side door. The limousine started driving away from the mansion. It was a long quiet ride which felt like it would never end.

Lyra looked at me here and there like she was trying to communicate with me through slight eye contact. I just smirked at her and looked out the window. "We're almost here. You'll have six hours before the introduction ceremony. Make sure to look your best, both of you. I expect good things from you two." Crow said as I looked at him in confusion.

I looked out the window to see a massive city. "Heh, you've probably never seen a city this size before. Welcome to the Capital, kids." Crow said as he smiled.
