The day went on as I continued through my classes. People looked at me horrifically as if I scarred them. They moved their seats farther away from me to keep their distance. It's usually normal for me to sit alone. Other people have known about my fire powers for quite some time, but they still think I'm a monster. I've gotten used to it, but nothing changes.
It all started back in seventh grade. Everything was normal until a kid, taller than me, pushed me against my locker. He laughed as his buddies around him snickered. They made fun of me, pushed me, and laughed as I quivered in fear. The one looked at me as if he cared about me. That boy was Chase. Chase took the tall kid and pushed him back. The boys then straddled around Chase as the tall boy stood up and beat him to the ground. I remember getting back up to my feet and watched as Chase was beaten by his old friends.
I stood there and told them to stop. They looked at me as if I was joking. "Look kid, haven't you learned your lesson?" Said the tall boy. My body, bruised and beaten, could barely move. I could feel the heat inside me increase as I started to get angry. "Leave him alone." I said as fire ignited from my eyes.
The boys backed up. "What is this?! You stupid freak!" Yelled the tall boy as he backed up. He was frightened and fell to the ground. I grabbed him by the shirt as my hair started to ignite in a blaze. Everyone in the halls panicked and ran into nearby classrooms. "Please... let me go." Said the tall boy, frightened.
My body temperature rose as my entire body ignited into flames. The boy screamed in terror as he stared into my bright burning eyes. His shirt started burning as he screamed for help. Chase watched as the boy started to burn. Flames ignited the boy's body as he screamed in pain. I was emotionless as I grasped the burnt shirt. I dropped the boy as he screamed, and screamed, and screamed, until he couldn't scream no more.
The temperature in my body decreased as my flames went out. Chase looked at the boy's motionless, burnt body. "He's... dead." Chase said as he backed away, frightened by the body. I looked at the body as classroom doors slowly opened. The other students were pushed back by their teachers, so the teachers could see the scene. Everyone was in shock... and I just stood there.. with cold, dark eyes.
Chase was the only one that stayed friends with me throughout middle school. He was the only one that understood what I did, but he knows I went too far. As time went by, we started to meet new people, but of course you never know what someone can do. We became friends with Erin and Chris, but we met out of chance.
The school day ended as I walked out to my truck. I put the keys in the ignition and started it up. I sat there thinking about today. The principal had a talk with me, but it was the same old talk he says to every Elemental student. He always threatens us that the government will take us away. I remember telling him that I killed someone and they didn't do anything. The last words I remember him saying were "They're waiting for another day."
I started to drive down the road when on the corner of my eye, stood the same girl from before, walking on the sidewalk. I slowed the truck down and rolled down my window. "You need a ride?" I Asked Sydney. She kind of just looked shy and ignored the question. "Come on, it beats walking. Besides, you seem like a cool person. I just like to talk." I said calmly.
Sydney just looked at me and smirked. She walked over to the truck and got inside. She sat in the passenger seat and was mostly quiet and calm. I started to drive as I looked at her. "It didn't take me long, but I knew once I saw your cold eyes, you were an Elemental. An ice Elemental to be exact." I said as I continued driving.
Sydney looked at me in shock. "You must have a lot of experience with Elementals then. I am indeed an Elemental. I know that different elements can't really be around each other, but I guess sometimes it's okay. Why did you help me before and why are you being nice to me even though we're different elements?" She asked me. I just looked at her, looked back at the road, and smiled. "You see, I helped you, because I've been in your shoes. I know how it feels to be pushed around because you're different. The real reason is because I didn't want you to do the same thing I did one time... and accidentally kill someone."
Sydney looked shocked and didn't say anything. "I couldn't stop myself. It just... happened." I mumbled. I stopped the truck in front of Sydney's house and watched as she got out. She looked back to say thank you and went silent. "You don't need to thank me. I'm just here to help." I said as I waved. She smirked and went inside her house.
I drove through the woods on the way home and started to get a weird feeling like something wasn't right. I drove a little farther and in the distance, I could see the house, but a vehicle was in the driveway. I looked at the side of the vehicle and panicked. I stopped the truck and rushed to the front door, slamming it open. Inside, was my mother sitting on the couch, talking to a very familiar man.
The man was bald-headed, wore a full black suit, pitch black shades, and had an earpiece embedded in his ear. The man turned and looked at me. "Hello.. Austin. It's been ten years." He said in a serious tone. I backed up in shock. "You... are the man.. who caused everything. You're the reason.. my brother..., my father.. are dead. You think I'd ever forget that day?! That day... will forever be in my head. If you're here..., because you want me to kill you.., which I really hope you are.., then I'd be glad to Agent Crow."
