Mariokart and Pizza Rolls

"Eat that!" I screamed as the red shell sent Peach flying.

Grace sputtered some choice curse words at me as three karts and a bike passed her.

Behind me, I heard the timer beep and Elise going to check the oven. The glorious smell of pizza rolls wafted throughout the small apartment.

Elise and I, and Grace and her boyfriend, Mark, were supposed to be having a double date of MarioKart and pizza rolls. But, since Mark had some college work to catch up with, and Elise wasn't much of a gamer, it turned into a one-on-one war between my girlfriend's best friend and me.

I threw my remote in the air and skillfully caught it in celebration as my Koopa Troopa passed under the checkered banner.

"Give it up, Owens." I taunted. "You'll never beat me."

Grace gave me quite a rude hand gesture and wolfed down some pizza rolls that Elise had just brought her and me.

I popped a roll of my own in my mouth. Grace was still glaring at me.

"Run mowe wace," Grace said through her food. I gave a dramatic eye roll and began to set up the game as she commanded.

Out of the corner of my eye, Grace beckoned Elise closer. With a coy smile in my direction, she whispered something in my girl's ear. I gave the two a suspicious glare. My only response was to smirk.

"You can choose" Grace jeered. Elise slid next to me. A knowing look passed between the best friends.

Oblivious to a scheming plan, I swallowed the rest of my pizza rolls and pressed down on Rainbow Road. No way, regardless of what she was planning, could Grace beat me in Rainbow Road.

I'd bet my life on it.

The game started out just as I thought; I zoomed quickly to first while Grace struggled behind. Elise began to stroke my arm. Instinctively, turn to look at her. That's where I made a mistake... I drive straight off the edge.

Before I realized what was happening Elise was on my lap, kissing me quite passionately. My hands dropped the remote and wrapped around her waist. My mind was completely focused on this beautiful. MY beautiful girl.

Elise pulls away as Grace shouts victoriously. I realized what just happened.

I'm dumbstruck. Elise gave grace a high five and a wink to me. While I'll I can do is gape at them. I hear Grace's boyfriend, Mark, make a comment about how crossing a woman is a death wish.

My mouth finally catches up with my mind, "Hey! How is that fair!" My only response was snickers.

I make brief eye contact with Mark.  An understanding passes between us. In sync, we scoop up our respected girlfriends, carry them outside, and dumped them in the pool. I notice the glare sent our way.

"Soo... Mariokart?" Asked Mark.

"Yep."
