Chapter 5
That night she got up from her bed, rubbing what little trace of sleep was left from her nap away. She yawned and stretched out her arms and legs. The soft and cooling breeze entering her room refreshed her and only made her even more wide awake. When she had gotten home from school that day she just did her homework and knocked out instantly. After what happened the other night she had only gotten 3 hours of sleep, the nightmare deprived her more of the sleep she actually slept than anything.
Her laptop sat next to her on the nightstand. Her abnormally colored eyes glanced over at the backpack where she still had Grace’s notebook and back over to the black and musical covered laptop. She really didn’t want to stay up all night looking into nonsense and the rumors about her house.
With a sigh she got up and grabbed the leather cover sketchbook from deep within her backpack. She turned the light from her antique looking gothic lamp to a dim lighting and made her way over to the window. She opened the window nice and wide, staring up into the bright beautiful full moon. Without haste she sat down on the soft pillows that covered the small bench like structure attached to the window and got herself comfortable.
At least tomorrow was Saturday so she could sleep in in the morning. She had the tendency to only go to sleep once she knocked out or felt extremely tired. Sadly at the moment she didn’t feel like researching the names of the families or anything.
“I’ll go to the library later on instead.” She mumbled lowly.
She began sketching at once. Her mind completely lost in thought as she unconsciously began lip singing to her music playing thought her earphones. She glanced momentarily at the Spiderman screen which she had changed some some days ago and saw it was nearly 4 a.m. She just shrugged it off as she continued sketching. Her eyes were intently focused on the paper and pencil that danced over it that she never noticed the rustling in the tree just across from her room’s window or the colored orbs that stared at her from across.
When she finally glanced up she stared at the tree. Something in her told her that someone was there, watching her. She could clearly feel the stare of someone. She squinted, trying to figure out or find a body shape or outline. Something! But she saw nothing. Only leaves moving gently in the breeze but nothing abnormal at all. With a forced sigh she got up on her knees and slid the gray curtains closed. Almost immediately she returned to drawing until she saw another strange sketch.
She could clearly see a figure of a young man crouching low on a tree branch with what looked like wings tucked close to his body. The direction in which he looked was straight at her window, her bedroom which looked nothing like her bedroom at the same time. It had a small outer balcony with large double glass doors wide open. In the far background of the room she could see the black figure outline of someone. She couldn’t tell who it was exactly but she knew it was there, another man grinning and staring back at the one on the tree.
“What’s wrong with me?” she half chuckled as she shook her head and closed the sketch book instead. She quickly and quietly packed the leather book into a bag which she always took with her on weekends. Silently she crept into her bed, turning to another different playlist as she rested her cell phone underneath her pillow and hand and went into a peaceful sleep.
“Hey wake up! Mom’s calling you!” yelled Linna into the sleeping girl’s ear and startling her wide awake.
Michelle in a rush bolted to her feet, stomping angrily towards her younger sister, “Don’t EVER yell into my ear like that you-you stupid obnoxious brat!” she yelled.
