(monday the 11th)
It all happened so fast. Within a split second, the glass had shattered. I stared blankly at what had happened. Everyone looked at me. The teacher stared in horror. I sat there, as still as a statute. Excuses filled my head as I tried to think of what to say.
"What did you do?" the old teacher asked, pointing her thin, bony finger at me in, what seemed to be, fear. This lady was veteran. She had been teaching at this school for, well, ever. She was at least ninety and looked it too. She was frail, thin, and looked like she would curl up and die any second now. Her thin, light grey, almost invisible, and few, strands of hair were tied up in a sad excuse of a bun on the top of her head. She had thin spectacles that sad on the bridge of her fragile nose. Her whole body was painted in wrinkles and folds of loose skin. She had big bulging eyes that seemed to pop out of their sockets. Her eyelids were thin and barely covered her whole eye when she blinked. The whites of her eyes were a pale yellow, that matched her teeth. Her lips were thin and pale in reality, but were always coated with a few layers of dark red lipstick. Her teeth were a gross yellow, at least the ones that were there were. I always tried to avoid looking at her. Her disgusting appearance made me want to vomit.
"H-how did you do that?" She pointed at the shattered glass that now laid all over the floor. It had fallen, without anyone being anywhere near it. I myself was still confused on how it had come about. Ms. Bony-Finger had gotten mad at me, she always did, and told me to go to the principal's office. I stood up angrily, and the glass fell. Nothing else.
"I didn't do anything," I stammered. "It must have fallen. Maybe you bumped it." She looked at me disapprovingly.
"Detention!" she exclaimed, slamming her fist on her desk. It would have made a loud noise, if she wasn't in the weak condition she was in.
"Fine!" I spat, sitting back down in my desk. "You should know, I saw you bump it," I lied. What else was I supposed to say? The boy behind me leaned forward and whispered into my ear.
"How did you do that?" he asked with wide eyes. I looked back.
"I didn't do it," I whispered. "It just fell." He nodded his head in understanding and went back to his work. I knew it was a lie though. I didn't know how, but I just knew that whatever happened to that glass, had something to do with me. Class ended normally. "Irena!" My science teacher yelled. I jerked up at the sound of my name. "Come with me. We are going to take a little trip to the principal, and then we will call your parents." I sighed and followed her to the door.
I walked down the hall to this principal's office. Well, more like got dragged. My science teacher tightly held my arm. Her long dirty fingernails dug deep into my skin. I really wanted her to let go. It was irritating and embarrassing. And then she did. I don't know how, or why. But she let go. Her face was alarmed. She tried to grab my arm again, but there was something like an invisible wall in between her and me. She began to panic, then screamed and run down the hall, yelling "witch" and "black magic". I didn't know what to do. So I ran. I ran to the exit door. I pushed on the bar, but it was locked. Then the alarm set off. I shrieked. No! No! Not now! My head started ringing. I was confused. And scared. I crumpled to the floor, curled up into a ball, and cried. I couldn't really think of anything else to do. I felt a soft touch on my shoulder and looked up. A girl stood next to me. She seemed about my age. I didn't know who she was, but she seemed to know me. She had short dark hair and pale skin. She wore a pair of headphones over her ears. They were completely black, except for some lime green trim on the edges. She wore boy's clothes, but I didn't care at the moment. "Get up" She said softly. I slowly rose to my feet. She kept her hand on my shoulder.
"Who are you?" I finally asked after a couple awkward moments.
"There's no time to explain" she said with a sigh "You'll understand later" I studied her face and then I realized something. Her eyes. They were different colors. Blue and gray. Her smile drained away from her face. "You need to get out of here" she said, "now".
"How?" I asked, "The door is locked"
The alarm immediately shut off, and the door opened.
"Go!" she exclaimed and waved her arms towards me, ushering me out. I closed my eyes, took and deep breath, and quickly ran out into the bright light, not fully realizing what had just happened.
I turned around. "Wait!" I yelled, "Who are you?" But then I realized that she wasn't there. "That's strange." I thought to myself. Now I just needed to get home. "Yes, definitely. That's where I'll be safe."
I knew the way home perfectly. Just getting out of the school perimeters would be the problem. "Hmm, how can I get myself out of this place?" I thought. I heard muffled voices behind me and jerked my head around just as two bodies scurried behind some shrubbery. I pretended I didn't see them and casually walked around the corner. I could tell they were trying to follow me. It was pretty obvious. They were loud and I could tell they seriously didn't have any experience on stalking people. I smiled to myself and continued to walk.
