(tuesday the 12th)
I woke up to find myself in a strange room. The walls were white. The floor was white. The ceiling was white. It was bright. My eyes burned. I felt hot and uncomfortable. My sister, Sydney, sat next to me, gently stroking my forehead. She was blurry, but I could tell it was her.
"Are you alright?" she asked. I looked around and tried to sit up, but found I couldn't move. My arms and legs were tied down. I struggled.
"Sydney?" I croaked.
"Oh gosh! You're ok!" she exclaimed and flew her arms around me. I felt safe and all of the discomfort left me. I was just happy she was here.
"Wait- where am I?" I struggled to ask. My mouth felt numb and dry. "What happened?"
"The doctors found out that you got a concussion..." she paused. "A bad one."
"How?" I asked.
Sydney bit her lip. She was trying to think. She always did that when she was really thinking hard. She then took a deep breath.
"I know this sounds crazy," she started "but I think you got hit on the head with some flying debris."
"How?" I asked again. I felt like a parrot, repeating the same thing over and over again. "How could flying debris hit me if I was just in my room?" It would be impossible. All of the doors and windows were closed.
"That doesn't matter right now. But the doctors were pretty concerned. You got hit on a sensitive spot on your head. They're gonna have to do some tests. It'll take all night."
"Are you going to stay here?" I asked. There was nothing I needed more that my sister, of all times.
"Yah, I talked to the college already and they said it will be alright" she said and smiled.
"Wait," I said "Weren't you doing something important?" I asked.
"Oh, I was just doing some tests on someone, there's this girl-"
I suddenly screamed. My chest felt like it was getting torn apart. The lines on the heart monitor jerked up. I started to choke. Sydney face drained its color.
"Ireena!" she shrieked "Just think!"
'Think?' I thought. 'Think about what?!' I started to gag.
"Just imagine it's all gone, all of your pain, just-just gone" she said.
"No! That's not possible!", my head scolded. The monitor slowed down. My chest hurt. My head hurt. I was blacking out.
"Think!" Sydney yelled. But it only seemed like a muffled whisper.
So I did. I thought. And as I thought, I saw a light. And nothing but that light. A warm golden glow. It slowly hovered towards me, and I immediately felt calm, peaceful, and well... happy. The light, it was mesmerizing. And then my pain, just all disappeared down a drain of nothing. It was an amazing feeling. Like the heaviest boulders just got lifted off my back. Like I was floating around in nothingness, without a care in the world. I was yanked into reality. The whiteness of the room hurt my eyes. I sat up and rubbed them. It took me a second to realize where I was. And I then noticed that my pain was gone. Not only was it gone, I felt better. Amazing. I remembered my sister. I looked up and saw her face. It was tear-streaked. Her hair was messed up, but she smiled when she heard my voice.
"H-how did you do that?" I mumbled wonder and amazement. It just didn't make sense to me. Nothing did anymore. She just smiled.
"It wasn't me it was-" Her phone started ringing.
"Oh, it's Roman" she murmured to herself.
"Who's that?" I asked.
"No one!" she said a bit too quickly as she jerked up. "I um, need to talk privately" I just awkwardly stared at her with a frozen expression.
"I'll... um... go out into the hall" she said and ran to the door.
'Psh, older sisters' I thought and laughed to myself, as she tripped on a cord. She looked around, her face bright red, then awkwardly smiled. She quickly bolted out the door. I heard something knock over, and her apologizing. Yup that's Sydney.
