chapter 6

TRIGGER WARNING: PURGING, SUICIDAL THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS.

I woke up, sprawled out on the couch. The leather sticking to my skin as I pull myself up and look at the time on my phone

‘9:07 am’

I groan and snuggle back up on the couch. The leather was still warm from where I was asleep. After about 10 minutes of just lying there with my eyes closed, and knowing sleep was not going to come, ii decide to go take a shower and go down to visit Jaime at the music store. I pull a band shirt over my head, and black skinny jeans on my fat legs, and head out to the car. Tomorrow was Monday, my first day at high school in this town. When I get to the store, I see Vic leaned over the counter, lips locked with Jaime’s. My heart clenched in my chest at the view in front of me. Vic slowly pulls away and I duck behind shelf of pop music. I hear Vic mutter something to Jaime about not telling anyone about ‘them’. I wanted to cry, I wanted to confront Vic, and I wanted a hug. But I got none of that, instead Vic left the store not noticing me and Jaime placed a box of CD’s on the counter and started examining them and putting them in different piles. I got up from behind the shelf and walked over to Jaime. He looked up and his face drained of color.

“Hey, Jaime.” I say smiling at him and take a CD and examine the cover.

“h-hey, kellin. I- uh h-how long have you been here?” he stutters while pulling a handful of CD’s out of the box and onto the counter.

“Just got here” I lied “wanted to see how you were and stuff.”

“oh.” He smiles and places an album among a few others in a pile. “So how’s life?”

“Good. Finally got settled into my house and the neighbors are really nice.”

“Oh? And have you met them yet?”

“Yeah. There is this boy who lives across the street. He’s the same age as me and his older brother is really sexy.” I state referring to mike and Vic. I told both Jaime and tony about my sexuality when I accepted the job. Turns out that tony is gay too and Jaime is bi.

“You already falling for someone are you? You realize you haven’t even been here a week right?” I nod and place the CD in my hand back on the counter. He picked it up, popping it open and putting it in the CD player. An acoustic guitar starts up immediately quickly followed by the voice of a boy.

And will you fall in love again?

Is the scent slowly spreading?

I've been answering machines all night’

“dude! These guys are awesome! Can I have that CD?” I ask poining to the album in his hand. He just smiled.

“Thanks dude.” I give him a confused look.

“I play bass for pierce the veil.” He says taking the CD out of the player and back into the case. He hands it over to me and tells me that it’s free.

“So, who does that sexy ass voice belong to?” I ask helping him sort out the albums.

“Uh, ur lead singer Vic, and his brother mike plays the drums.” My face lit up

“I didn’t know Vic could sing? I mean I saw drum sticks in mikes bedroom but I didn’t really pay much attention to it.” I say putting the last album in a pile.
