The voices get louder and louder.

You sit there watching everything.

Not saying a word.

Knowing how it will end.

With you covering your ears,

Your mom being beaten,

And your dad hitting you across the face while stumbling outside with a bottle of booze in his hand.

You've seen this happen all the time.

You and your mom were lucky if he got drunk and didn't do anything at all.

You wanted to speak up but you kept your mouth shut due to the fear taking over you.

You had your ears covered and you took a deep breath.

Enough was enough.

You got up quickly, and put yourself between your mom and dad.

You heard your voice cry out:

" Dad stop! You're hurting mom! Please, stop!"

You looked at both of your parents seeing the shocked look on both of their faces.

You got shoved by your mom being yelled at to go away.

You insisted on staying.

But your mom kept telling you to go.

You ran out of your house and grabbed your bike.

Riding away from home and going to no where,

You replayed what happened in the kitchen.

You always kept wondering why this had to happen all the time.

They didn't notice how it was affecting you.
