~Hayes's P.O.V~(Y/N) had been absent from school for a whole week now. I was scared out of my mind. When we were in the 4th grade she told me about that her parents had started abusing her. She made me swear not to tell a soul. But, every time I notice a new bruise or cut, the urge to tell someone grows.
My mind was racing. What if they hurt her even worse than usual? What if she was....
'No!' I told myself sternly.
'No negative thoughts, positive thoughts only.'
When the last bell of the day rung, I rushed out of school. I had to go check on (Y/N). I hoped on my skateboard and took off. As I rode down the street, I text and called her phone for the millionth time this week. At first I got no reply, but then I received two messages. One simply said "Goodbye" and then the last one caught me of guard making me almost fall off my skateboard. I stared hard at the message that said "I love you."
That's when it hit me. I knew exactly what she was going to try to do.
When I arrived at her house I jumped off my skateboard. I realized that her parents car wasn't in the driveway. I couldn't' care less if they were gone. I didn't want to have to deal with them anyway.
I walked up to the door and knocked. No answer. I knocked again. Still no answer. I jiggled to doorknob to see if it might be unlocked. It wasn't, of course. Maybe they had a spare key. I looked under the welcome matt and saw a shiny piece of silver. Bingo.
I unlocked the door and walked in. "(Y/N), are you here?" I called out.
"(Y/N) ?"
I ventured down the hallway. My felt my heart thumping quickly in my chest. I was about to walk right past the bathroom, but I saw a figure moving in there. I lightly pushed the door open and I saw (Y/N) sitting on the edge of the bathtub struggling to get a bottle of pills open.
"(Y/N), Stop!" I ran over to her and snatched the bottle away. I threw the bottle somewhere behind me. She sunk to her knees on the floor. I slid down next to her and wrapped her in my arms. "No. Please no." I said as I hugged her. She sobbed uncontrollably on my shoulder. "You mean too much to me." I told her as I held her close to me and rocked back and fourth.
When she was done crying there was a long moment of silence before I whispered into her ear as I held her close,
"I love you too."
