You and your best friend, Shawn, sat on sat on the bright green grass in his small backyard. The sun had almost completely disappeared from the sky and the sound of crickets filled the silence. You sat crisscross in front of Shawn and attempted to teach him how to make a flower crown.
"Then you just twist the stems together." You tell him demonstrating the last of the instructions. Shawn did as you said and twisted the stems of the daisies together.
"It doesn't look as good as yours, but at least I tried." He chuckled. You looked up at him and smiled. "I think it's beautiful."
He smiled back and placed the crown of daisies on your head. "Perfect fit." He said. You lifted up your flower crown to show him. "What do you think?"
"Beautiful." He said, and in a light whisper he added, "Just like you."
The sun was gone and the moon and stars were out for their time to shine.
"Dance with me." He said out of the blue. You raised an eyebrow. "We don't have any music." You pointed out.
"We don't need any."
He held out a hand and helped her up. Your bodies were inches apart. Shawn quietly hummed to a song he had written a while back. Both of you swayed back and forth to the sweet melody.
Towards the middle of the song hundreds, maybe even thousands of fireflies surrounded you. The warm glow from their light illuminated your faces. Their bodys were gliding aross the night sky as you and Shawn slowly moved from side to side. It was alsmost like they were dancing too.
"(Y/N)?" Shawn called out.
"Yes?"
"You're my best friend and I can tell you anything, right?" He asked. "Right." You replied.
He hesitated a moment as a light blush crept on to his cheecks.
"I'm in love with my best friend."
