Almost rescue time!
I also have a new story out called 'A Magical Twist'!
~Luke~
"I'll ask again," the man growled, "where is Sang?"
Silently, I shrugged. It wasn't a lie, I didn't know where Sang went, and I wouldn't have told him even if I did. I wasn't scared of him.
The man slammed a fist against the wall right to my head, not even drawing a flinch from me.
My brothers would find me soon.
Sang was free.
Everything was fine.
~Nathan~
The wolf trotted ahead of us, its jaws clamped down on Luke's shirt. A few times it had to slow down and wait for Gabriel and me, as it was much faster.
"Remind me again why we're following a wolf?" Gabriel complained for the tenth time in the five minutes we'd been following it. "This is a horrible idea."
I tried to tune him out, disagreeing. The wolf seemed intelligent, domesticated even. It came when I called, almost like it was trained. There was something about it- it just seemed to understand me.
It was creepy.
A desperate light had begun to creep into the wolf's dark eyes as we traveled farther and farther. Something was bothering it, I knew that much, but I wasn't sure what.
Without warning, the wolf shot forward, just a blonde blur as it streaked away, disappearing through the trees. Trees which I thought I could make out a building through.
Hesitantly, I checked my phone to see where my GPS placed us. There was no cell signal out here, but we didn't want to get lost trapsing through the woods. There were no roads to reach the building we had been investigating. Upon checking my phone, I found the wolf had brought us straight to it.
I shoved through the trees, Gabe close behind, and it was only a few moments before we emerged into a large clearing. The plain grey building sat in the middle.
A sharp bark drew my attention to the wolf, who had dropped Luke's shirt. It pawed at the shirt, then looked at the building.
Gabriel was silent behind me, and I glanced back to see him staring at the wolf. He still seemed nervous, but intrigued.
I clicked my tongue to get the wolf's attention, calling it over to me. It grabbed Luke's shirt and trotted over, ears pinned back against its head. It whined.
"What is it bud?" I asked, trying to keep my voice light and friendly. As adorable as I found the wolf and as friendly as it had been so far, it was still a dangerous animal that could kill me if it wanted. I just hoped I was right and it was a friendly domesticated wolf. Or a wolf-dog.
The wolf turned to look over its shoulder at the building, then nudged my leg with Luke's shirt. It barked through the shirt, got up, and trotted back towards the building's entrance.
Gabriel, who had been uncharacteristically silent throughout this exchange, finally spoke up. "Can we please just fucking get on with it? North's going to flip out if we're not back by tonight- and we aren't going to be if we're blindly following a random animal!"
"Gabe," I sighed. "You do realize this is the place Luke disappeared while investigating? The wolf- who just happens to be carrying Luke's shirt- led us here. What do you want to bet it's trying to help us?"
"Help us!? It's a wolf! They don't understand us!"
I rolled my eyes, turning back to the wolf.
~Gabriel~
I wanted nothing more than to find Luke and go home.
Nathan and I were originally here to jump in if Luke needed help, but communication dropped and we had no idea where he was. We assumed he was in the building, but we weren't sure, nor did we know where in the building. We had regrouped back home, then Nathan and I were sent back to attempt to break in or something. Our communication cut out too, while we were in the woods, and Mr. B never got to finish explaining the plan.
So Nathan got the bright idea to follow a wild fucking animal.
Don't get me wrong, I thought the wolf was adorable(who knew wolves could be so many different shades of blonde?) but it was still an animal that could decide to eat me for a snack. It looked hungry enough to.
And seeing Luke's shirt in its mouth? I wasn't sure what that was all about. The shirt was disgusting, dirty and stained. I wasn't sure why Luke wasn't wearing his shirt, but I could assume it wasn't because the wolf ate him. There was no blood. But that didn't mean we should follow it! It probably just found Luke's shirt and picked it up, right? Animals were strange.
But watching Nathan interact with the wolf... it just seemed so intelligent, like it understood us.
It was unnerving.
"Shit," I cursed. "I can't believe I'm doing this." Nervously, I joined Nathan and the wolf.
~Sang~
This whole not-shifting thing was getting extremely frustrating. I knew Luke didn't want me to- and I trusted him- but I couldn't just avoid people everytime I wanted to shift. We were going to have to figure something else out. After I found him.
In the meantime, however...
While Nathan turned around to confer with Gabe, I darted towards the side of the building, rounding the corner so I was out of the boys' sight. I made quick work of shifting and pulling on Luke's shirt.
I didn't shift in front of them, so this was ok, right? This wasn't breaking Luke's rule.
Pulling my hair out from the collar of the shirt and brushing it back over my shoulders, I walked back out into the boys' sight. They spotted me instantly.
"What-"
"Who the fuck are you?!"
My finger hovered over my lip, my other hand going down to play with the hem of Luke's shirt. "Hi."
"Hi?" Nathan repeated, staring at Luke's shirt on me. "Ok, can someone explain what the hell just happened?"
Gabe started spewing curses.
"Um..." I trailed off, not sure what to say. It didn't really matter what they thought, I just wanted to get Luke out. "I've got a friend trapped inside there-" I gestured toward the building "-and I needed some help getting him out. Do you guys know Luke?"
The two boys exchanged a look, then nodded- and the interrogation began.
Well, the boys are definitely confused now. Do you think they've pieced it together?
