Kary just couldn't believe this was real life. All of her nightmares were coming into reality! She didn't know how to feel. Was she supposed to happy that her mom was finally talking to her dad? Or was he supposed to be frightened that her dad's real name was; Kary just couldn't remember it. It was like the name was in her mind, but disappeared in an instant. Her mom talked, and talked. It seemed like she was talking for hours. Kary looked at the clock in her room, "12:57" she whispered. It was midnight and Kary was exhausted. " I need to get some sleep," she said. Time passed in an instant. It was almost 3 am and the ghost horses were soon to come. Her mom got into bed. She then fell asleep and Kary could tell that she was having nightmares.
Kary sat on the windowsill of her house until midnight and waited for the ghost horse to arrive. She sat there for minutes, hours, but the horse didn't arrive. "I'm going to go look in the forest for him," she said to herself. Kary floated in the air until she eventually got to her destination. The old barn was the same as always. But there were whispers coming from the barn. "ugfydydytgjhjbhht" was all that Kary could hear. Kary silently flew up to the roof and peeked through the crack. Horses were gathering and drama was happening. "No that won't work," one horse said, "Yes it will if we just follow the original plan," another horse said. "Okay, enough everybody," the ghost horse yelled, " we should all just stop and listen to King Baranszky idea". "Thank you, now," there was a pause, "I WANT THE GIRL AND I WANT HER NOW" The screaming and the high demand of her uncle made Kary's heart jump like a kangaroo. The room was silent. All the horses bowed down and obeyed his orders. They all bolted out of the barn, one by one, looking for Kary. " O my Gosh," Kary said. She needed to hide, and she needed to do it fast! The horses were scrambling around all of Colorado. Looking everywhere. Kary flew as fast as she could, not realizing how quick she was. By the time she stopped Kary realized that she was back in California! Back at her favorite amusement park that her dad used to take her to all the time. She loved spending time with him, and with the rest of her siblings as well. Kary spotted a clock, she looked at the time, "4:55 am" she said to herself, "I traveled here in 7 minutes"! The amusement park was only 3 minutes from her house, Kary loved to bike here with her siblings after school. She wanted to go home, back to the house that she grew up in. Kary got to the house in a matter of seconds, she looked through the living room window and saw all of her siblings and her dad. "Dad," Kary said. Knowing that her dad and siblings couldn't hear nor see her. Kary flew up closer to hear better of what her dad was saying to all of her siblings " Alright guys," her dad spoke. "I need to go away for a couple months to deal with something really important, Julia will be here to take care of you guys for a while until I'm home". "Where are you going" asked Faith? Her dad didn't answer. "Hey, how about I go and make some chocolate chip cookies so that you can have them for breakfast in the morning," said Julia. Kary liked Julia, Julia was her dad's girlfriend and she was a great baker, chocolate chip cookies were Kary's favorite, she wished that she could eat them. "Alright bye kids," her dad said, "Bye," said Julia. Jeremy and faith whispered. "maybe dad's going to a secret agency and robbing a bank," said Faith, " Faith, don't be silly," said Jeremy, "Dad's going to go see Kary and mom". "MOMMY" yelled faith, " I WANT TO SEE MOMMY". "I want to see Kary," said Jeremy. Kary was filled with excitement, she was so relieved that her brother actually missed her. " I loved when Kary and I used to trick the guy at the amusement park and say that we bought tickets when we just made them online," Jeremy said, " and when we played basketball all the time in the backyard". "I miss those moments too Jeremy" Kary Whispered to herself.
Morning came in which seemed like an instant. Her dad was off to Colorado not knowing that she was now in California. Her siblings went to school and Kary saw Julia make them a yummy breakfast. She wanted to eat so badly but ghosts don't eat food. Her siblings left, one by one. Kary decided to follow Jeremy to school so that she could see some of her friends since she and Jeremy went to the same school in California. Walking to the school seemed like forever. She and Jeremy used to race down the streets with their backpacks held high like rocket ships, but all of those moments were gone. They finally got to the school when a bunch of cheerleaders approached her brother
"Hey Babe," one of them said and kissed her brother lightly on the cheek. At first, Kary giggled, she giggled so hard that her stomach started to hurt and she felt dizzy. But afterward, she realized who that was. Who that girl was. Tears started filling up in her eyes and her whole body felt dead.
