Getting off the plane, my stomach was filled with butterflies and my knees were wobbly.
Words couldn't express how much I missed my home in Hawaii, but words could definitely express my anxiety to explore the city.
Practically running off the plane and grabbing my bags, I headed straight towards the door with wide eyes and an open mind.
Seeing all of the buildings and hearing all of the sounds made me..sick to my stomach.
I groaned, who was I kidding? I hated this place no matter how hard I tried to cover it.
I dragged myself to the subway with all of my luggage practically on my shoulders, it was a disaster. I turned and walked around as if I was a kindergartener at a high school, I was absolutely confused.
I let out a heavy sigh before storming ahead to try to find someone who could help me get to my uncle and aunts place from the subway.
That's when I stumbled into a guy, knocking him to the ground.
I looked down at him to see a pretty boy. His eyelashes were long, his lips pink and plump, his eyes were dark but not the slightest bit of malice in them.
Still staring at this guy, he let out a deep chuckle and pushed himself off the ground and dusted himself off. "Got somewhere to be?" He joking questioned.
All I could mutter was,"Um-Uh-Sorr-I..."
completely making an ass of myself. Not a good way to make a good first impression btw."You must be new here." He laughed "I'm Drew." a big hand emerged from his black leather jacket pocket and stuck out.
I nervously grabbed it with my sweaty hand, "Noelani"
"Noelani..I like that name..it's like a tropical breeze." He smiled.
My cheeks reddened and I tried not to smile like an idiot, I focused and got to the point of what I needed. I pulled out a map of the whole entire state of New York and held it out in front of he and I.
He bursted out into laughter and snorted as I stood there urgently needing to know how to get to where I was going. I grew irritated and just wanted to get to my relatives place before night fell.
"Seriously, I need to get to Manhattan from here and I need you to stop assing around and help me."
His laughter quickly ceased and his face and tone became stern. "Ok, alright."
As he explained and pointed me in the right direction I would finally be on my way. I told Drew bye and wished him well as I got on the subway on my way to Manhattan.
I really hope I will see him around again. It was something about him that was..calming. He was like a sense of comic relief in my crazy, emotional life and I appreciated it. I just hope this isn't the last time I see him.
