I arrived at the house at about 7 to be greeted by my uncle Keanu and aunt Evelyn. They pulled me in along with all of my bags and embraced me, which was kinda weird but they were just being nice.
My cousin,Katya, came down the stairs and rolled her eyes.
"I told you guys I didn't need a babysitter, I'm 17!" She shouted.
By her actions, I assumed she didn't really know me and that's reasonable because honestly who knows all of their cousins?
I spoke up, "Well I'm not exactly a babysitter but-"
She cut me off, "Look, I don't care who you are I will be a college freshman in about a week." She flipped her long black hair and marched back up the polished wooden stairs.
"We're sorry about Katya, she's just..." uncle Keanu spoke.
"A major bitch? I finished, totally not regretting a word I said.
My aunt and uncle burst into laughter and walked into the kitchen. They knew it.
I ventured up to what would be my bedroom and threw my bags to the hard wood flooring and fell onto the bed.
Exhausted from a long day of traveling, I fell asleep briefly only to be woken up by the "queen" Katya barging into the room.
"Go to the store." she demanded as she tossed the grocery list towards me and strutted out.
I sighed and kept my cool and threw on a pair of jean shorts,a simple burgundy hoodie, and my converses and walked out.
I had no clue where the grocery store was so I just walked aimlessly trying to appreciate my new urban home. It was so different from my sweet Hawaii, but new starts are always healthy.
I walked until I saw a familiar face...Drew?
I wanted to avoid him but I wanted to approach him and I did kinda need help again so..
I casually came up to him and sighed looking down at my feet.
He chuckled, "Lost again Noelani?"
Honestly, I'm surprised he remembered my name but it made me happy that he did.
I tried to keep a straight face and be stern but it broke when I heard him snort.
A smile grew across my face as he still continued to laugh at my confusion.
He took the list out of my hands and skimmed through it.
"Grocery shopping huh? Sounds fun I wanna help."
It seemed like rolling my eyes at him was a new habit but every time I did I would grin.
"Fine come on Drew."
He practically skipped to the store. What a dork. Such a cute dork.
