CHAPTER THREE
"So, what happen to your face?" Trisha asked as she opened the door into the school. It was an awkward ride to school and Brook kept on glancing back at me, while Trisha looked in the rear-view mirror. I knew they were curious what happened to my face, but I didn't want to talk about it so I kept quiet.
"I don't really want to talk about it now." I tried to avoid eye contact.
"Its fine, we have to go to our lockers anyways. Maybe you can tell us later." Brook said as they started walking away.
"Okay, well I have to go to mine too. I'll see you guys first hour?" I asked.
"Okay." I turned left down the hallway where my locker was. I was looking in my locker when I felt someone leaning on the locker beside me.
"I waited for you this morning but you weren't there. Did you get a ride with someone else?" Rice asked he didn't seem angry but bored.
"Yep." I said without turning to look at him.
"You mad at me or something?" I slammed my locker and glared at him.
"No what could I possibly be mad at you for?" He seemed shocked at first then held out his hand to my face where the bruise was but I pulled away and walked down the hallway. He caught up to me very quickly.
"Stage, look at me! What happened to your face?" He asked seeming angry.
"Nothing, I fell." I said with a feisty attitude. He stepped right in front of me, I took a step back and felt the metal of the lockers right behind me. He stared into my eyes.
"I'm not going to asked you again, what happened?" He sounded pissed.
"Leave her alone!" Trisha yelled at Rice and pushed him away from me, while grabbing my hand and pulling me towards first hour. I looked back to see Rice staring at us with confusion.
*********
School seemed to fly by quickly. Rice and the boys were nowhere in sight. Lunch came and I started walking down with Brook and Trisha. Everybody was giving me weird looks, probably wondering why I was hanging out with the princesses of the school.
As we were walking to the lunch room, I could hear the word 'fight' being chanted over and over again. When we entered I couldn't see who was fighting but somehow I pushed through the crowd and my jaw literally dropped. Rice and Nick, one of the guys who hung out with Rice all the time, were going at each other. Rice looked like he wasn't even winded and Nick look like he was about to fall to the floor. Rice had roughed him up pretty good.
Just as Rice was about to punch him again, we caught each other's eyes and he froze. We stood there for a couple of seconds just staring at each other, he finally put his fist down and turned around and left. I was about to go follow him but Brook grabbed my arm.
"Let him cool off." I ripped my arm out of hers and went running after him. I couldn't find Rice anywhere and then decided to go back to the lunch room. He didn't show up for the rest of the day either. Trisha gave me a ride to her house. I wasn't surprised to find out that she was rich. Her house was about four or five times the size of my house. As soon as we entered her room, Brook and Trisha started telling me their plan of revenge.
"Okay, here's the plan, we're going to make Rice fall in love with you." Trisha and Brook both had identical smiles. I stared at them for a minute and then busted out laughing.
"What's the real plan?" I said after I finally could control my laughter. They both looked at each other and then turned back to me with equally confused and amused faces.
