A week later...
Just a week left before Christmas. Things were still in their usual state and nothing was new in town.
Betty slowly opened her eyes and glanced at her digital table clock — 7:13a.m. She lifted herself off the bed and got off. She was supposed to meet Jughead at POP's by 9. The blonde got in the shower and prepared for later.
Jughead, on the other hand, was being problematic on what to wear. Sure it was not a big deal but he needed to look decent and not some kind of gangster. He was going to meet the girl he was attracted to and the girl had to appreciate his looks.
Jughead Jones had never been this nervous. He was going to confess to Betty Cooper at POP's. He was ready and he was prepared whatever answer he gets from the blonde. He had this feeling hay Betty might feel the same but it was good to not assume things first.
8:30 a.m. Jughead was already at POP's. Five minutes later, Betty arrived. She searched for the guy and there he was, looking at her genuinely. The blonde made her way to where Jughead was sitting and she took her seat across him.
"Good morning, Betty." Jughead grinned.
Betty looked at the guy amusely and said, "Hi, Mr. Jones. You're wearing a bow tie..." she chuckled.
"I know it wasn't necessary but I have to look good." He smiled.
"You look good everyday, Jug." She giggled, shaking her head. She was finding Jughead really charming at this day.
The guy could not help but smile and look sheepish. Betty was making his heart beat faster and it was a really good feeling.
Both took their orders — two vanilla milkshakes and a plate of fries.
"So uh, what kind of music do you listen to?" Jughead asked, starting the conversation.
"Anything that would captivate my heart and soul," Betty simply replied. "Do you sing?"
"In the shower." The guy laughed.
"Nice." The girl nodded, taking a fry into her mouth.
"I just asked... because you really have an angelic voice." The guy said, more like a compliment.
"Thank you." The blonde said genuinely.
They were getting to know each other more and more as time passed by. The conversation never went awkward nor dull between them. Jughead decided that it was maybe time to confess to the girl what he really feels. Whatever happens, it would be worth it, at least he had the guts to try.
"Betty?" Jughead muttered.
"Hmm?"
"I need to tell you something important." He said, his heart starting to race faster.
Betty narrowed her brows and nodded. "What is it?"
The blonde was curious. What if this was the moment Jughead would confess to her the time she and Veronica had a constant roleplay the other day. Betty was a bit worrying on what to respond to Jughead.
"I know this would sound crazy but ever since the day we started working together, I never thought I..." Jughead was starting to express his feelings and Betty was just looking at him pryingly. "I'd like you this much," he swallowed. "You are a quick-witted lady and just everyday I get to see you, I could not control what I'm feeling. I tried not to be attracted to you but i'm failing... I just wanna let you know how I feel, Betty. You're the person who makes me smile and probably make my days better after a long day." Jughead said, staring deeply into Betty's eyes.
