Chapter Eighteen

Lord's Council Meeting

The next time the General came downstairs was at Miraz's order. He came down with a couple of soldiers to find Elizabeth in practically the same position he had left her in. The girl was curled up on the ground with a hand under her head, acting as a pillow, and her long wavy blonde hair was out of the previous ponytail and dancing around the floor around her. Glozelle felt bad about coming to fetch her under Miraz's orders, but he preferred doing it himself as compared to Mira's or his cousin Sopespian.

"Elizabeth," the General said softly as he crouched down beside her and nudged her gently. The girl slowly opened her eyes and then jolted up once she remembered where she was. At first, she looked around frantically until she laid eyes on the General and calmed down slightly. "I'm afraid I've been given the task to retrieve you," the General explained and Elizabeth frowned. "Mira's has called for a meeting with the council. He is going to introduce you to the rest of the Lord's."

Elizabeth had no idea what Glozelle was referring to but she had a feeling she wasn't going to be given the option to refuse. She gave a small nod before trying to stand up and wincing from the pain in her ankle. The color drained from her face and she sat back down as she grabbed her ankle. "I don't think I can walk on it," she told the General with a worried face.

The General looked at her ankle and saw it was certainly in a visible deformity he let out a sigh as he looked up at her. "I think it might be dislocated," he told and she gave a sad face.

"Meaning?" She asked him even though she had a feeling she already knew the answer.

"Meaning this might hurt," the General said as he started to gently hold her ankle.

She took a deep breath and squeezed her eyes shut. "Just do it fast," she urged him.

The General raised an eyebrow but he then quickly popped her ankle back into place. There was a slight cracking sound as the ankle returned to its rightful place and Elizabeth grit her teeth and grabbed her face as if to ease the pain. Her heart was pounding but her breathing started to level out as her ankle started to calm down. Ignoring the pain, Elizabeth got to her feet even though her ankle felt as if it was on fire. She winced and Glozelle offered her a hand, but she refused it. She still wasn't certain if she could trust him or not.

Glozelle then leads the blonde up the all too familiar staircase leading them back into the main parts of the castle. Even though she didn't say it, Glozelle could tell Elizabeth was thankful that he hadn't cuffed her. He leads her down a pathway of halls until they approached a room that Elizabeth was unfamiliar with. Upon entering the room, she found five women that seemed to be waiting for her with their hands gripped in front of them. Elizabeth gave Glozelle a confused glance while he just cleared his throat.

"These women are in charge of getting you cleaned and prepared for the council meeting," he explained to her while she just scowled.

"I'm guessing I have no choice on whether or not I get to go," she said with clear annoyance in her tone.
