"So, think you could fix it?" Connor asked.

"I'm not sure," Celia responded.

Jacob, Maggie, and Connor where sitting in a semicircle on the floor around Ceila, staring at the computer she held in her hands. She cautiously flipped it, looking it over for any damage. "It looks fairly used," she said, "But it doesn't seem to have sustained any kind of serious damage." She placed the computer on the ground in front of her. "And you said you found this where?" she asked Connor.

"It was tucked between my bed and the wall," he said.

"Interesting," Celia whispered. She opened up the top the computer. The screen was black. "You can tell it's old. It doesn't start up when you open the top like the rest." She placed the computer on her lap and examined it closer. She thought for a moment. "Wow, this is old," she said.

"How do you turn it on then?" Maggie asked.

"I remember reading about how older computers like this turn on by pressing a button," Celia said. "It was in one of my fathers older books."

"I wonder why that is," Jacob wondered.

"I didn't know that," Connor said, embarrassed.

"Yeah, watch," Celia placed a finger on a round indentation near the top corner of the computer. She pressed down. The little computer blossomed into life.

Everyone was slowly leaning in to the computer screen. A loading bar appeared, and filled almost instantly.

"It's fast for such an old computer," Celia said. She felt a sudden ping. Confused, she looked to her friends. "Did you feel that?" she asked.

The others shook their heads no.

Celia stared at the computer screen. She couldn't quite understand it, but she felt a strange pulsation coming from it. She recognized it from somewhere.

One of the many icons on the screen was glowing. She started to move the cursor towards it, but something else caught her eye. "A video diary," she said to herself. She opened the old file. Two icons popped up. A record, and a play button. She picked the play button.

The face of a young boy then came up in a window. He had blond hair, a lot like Celia herself, and he wore a brown shirt. The video started to play on its own. He started to speak.

"Diary of Jeremy Belpois, Kadic Academy 8th grade student. October 9th, 2003," he said.

"That's over fifty years ago!" Maggie exclaimed.

"Hey," Jacob nudged Celia, "Isn't your last name Belpois too?"

Celia pondered this. "I'm sure it's just a coincidence," she said. She wasn't entirely sure of this though.

"A few weeks ago, I was hunting for parts to finish building my miniature robots," Jeremy continued. " I couldn't find anything around here I could use so I decided to rummage for scrap in the abandoned factory not far from the academy. I figured that I could find plenty of cool mechanical stuff left inside there that would be useful. And I wasn't disappointed, it was unbelievable! I stumbled onto a sort of complex with an entire computer lab with scanners! And especially this totally intense mainframe. For the moment, I haven't told anyone. It's my little secret. It's the coolest thing that's ever happened to me. And that wasn't all. That night, even though I was scared stiff, I decided to start up the computer. At first, I believed it to be a video game, but it's so much more than that."

The entry ended, and the window closed.

They all sat in silence for a minute.

"You think this kid was serious about this?" Jacob asked. "What he seems to be talking about is straight science fiction!"
