^Chapter 1^
“Introducing the Freak and the Wiz”
-Freshmen Year-
*The English Freak*
(Sue’s POV)
“Sue…” Amy called out my name from my back. Then, I felt her arms wrap around my neck. Tears started to stream down my cheeks. I turned to face my best friend.
“W-why a-are t-they l-like t-this, Amy? Why d-do t-they hate m-me so m-much??!” I asked her, now in between sobs.
She gently rubbed my back to calm me down. “They just don’t understand you, Sue. They’re probably not just used to how you are.” She answered me and smiled to console me.
She dragged the armchair beside me and positioned it in front of me then sat on it. She held both my hands and looked straight into my eyes. “Sue, everything’s ‘gonna be fine. Cheer up. Lilipas din ‘to, trust me.”
I just nodded in acknowledgement to what she said and gave her a half smile.
Amy stood up. “Pupunta akong Caf. You ‘wanna come? Gutom ako eh.” She asked smiling and rubbing her belly.
“No, go ahead Amy. I don’t feel like eating.”
She looked at me with anxiety in her eyes. It’s as if she’s asking if I’ll be alright.
“I’ll be fine.” I answered her then motioned to her to just go ahead.
“Okay, I’ll be back in a jiff.” Then she walked out of the room.
I was left alone, meditating.
It’s been two months now since we started high school. And within those two months, I’d been really great that I managed to make almost half of our class my enemies. We’re 40 in our class, meaning almost 20 of the total populace hate me.
Why is it such a biggy to them that I’m like this? I mean, I’m still normal despite my being somehow different to them.
Was it my fault that I grew up like this??! They should freaking blame my parents and English cartoons and movies for this!!! They created an effin’ English Freak!
(*Moment of silence*)
Oh, sorry. I didn’t mean to be rude. You’re probably wondering about what I’m talking about, huh?
-Flashback-
“Eomma.” I called out to my mom, my body half inside their bedroom. My voice was low ‘cause I didn’t want to wake my siblings. Yeah, they sleep with my parents. Such babies! Psh! -_-
“Yes, Sue?” My mom called back leaning towards my 4-year old sister to cover her up with their blanket.
“Amy’s here. Kalkeyo.” (Amy’s here, I’m off now.)
“Okay, sue.” She replied then smiled.
“Bye, eomma.”
I was about to go out when she spoke again. “By the way…” I looked back to face her.
“Deh?” I asked. (Yes?)
“You look pretty in your academy uniform.” She complimented then smiled.
I smiled back. “Gomawo, eomma.” (Thanks, mom.)
“Take care, sue. Have fun on your first day.” Then, I finally went out.
