Yoongi slipped through the gate, making cautious, slow steps. He wove himself through rows of flowers and trees, careful not to step on anything.
"Hoseok?" he asked with a low tone, making a small bow towards the younger.
"Sorry I couldn't come earlier. You know, I was busy and-" Yoongi stopped mid-sentence. He knew that excuses didn't matter anymore.
"May I?" he inquired, gesturing towards the chair next to him. He waited for a few seconds before sitting down.
"Hey, I really didn't mean for this to happen. I'm sorry. Everyone tells me it's not my fault, but who's is it then? I wanted to do something, I tried! I'm sorry." Yoongi started pulling out some of the tall grass next to him and ripping it to shreds.
He remembered something in his bag."I brought you something," he said while digging through his bag. He pulled out some fresh white roses and a yellow candle. He set them down in front of Hoseok and paused for a moment before talking.
"Jimin hasn't been the same since you left, I think he had a relapse. He's overworking himself again, he says it's to honor you. I don't really believe him. He lost so much weight he's starting to look like a skeleton. Jungkook too. He stopped working out and stopped eating as well. Namjoon started drinking, and I know you could stop it. Why can't you come back?" He waited for Hoseok to respond, tears running down his face. "I miss you."
Yoongi sighed and stared at the candle, hoping Hoseok would take it. It stayed silent, so Yoongi took his own lighter and ignited the flame. He watched it flicker in the wind.
"I never- I never got the chance to tell you... I wanted to say that..." Yoongi stuttered and started his sentence again.
"I wanted to tell you that I love you." Yoongi choked, the tears blocking his throat and making his voice shake. The wind blew out the candle and Yoongi felt alone.
"I love you as more than a friend and I'm sorry this happened. I really didn't mean it and I can understand if you're mad, but please, Hoseok, answer me!" Yoongi raised his voice ever so slightly, his salty tears streaming into his open mouth. He closed it again and rested his forehead on his hands.
"I'm sorry." He couldn't speak any louder than a whisper. He slid off the chair, tipping his bag over. He fell onto the fresh, green grass on Hoseok's grave, his head hitting against the gravestone. A wilted flower petal fell on his cheek.
Yoongi didn't move. He couldn't. He couldn't get up from the cold earth he was lying on. He knew Hoseok's remains rested under him, he knew he would never be as close to Hoseok again as he was now.
The gate creaked in the wind and Yoongi jumped up, afraid to be seen lying on a grave like some psycho. He reassured himself that no one was there, that no one saw him.
"I'm sorry," he repeated again. He laid his hand on the gravestone, his tears fading.
"I'm going to leave now, okay?" He waited. "Alright then. Bye, Hoseok. See you soon."
Maybe too soon.
