❝ Love is simple yet complicated.
Love is beautiful yet heartbreaking.
Love is right yet wrong.
Why does it exist? I wonder.
Because without it, we would all be heartless and soulless. ❞"So why do you want to meet up with me again?" Mingyu asks and takes a sip of his coffee. "It's only been two weeks."
"I know! That's the thing. The reason why he liked me was because of the string connecting us. After I cut it, it was like all his feelings for me disappeared. He didn't talk to me and we didn't see each other like we always did when they string connected us."
Mingyu leaned in closer and whispered. "The strings don't determine your feelings for one another. It leads you towards each other."
"What do you mean?"
"Did you feel any spark between you and Junhui when you first met each other?"
"I-I don't know. I was too busy focused on the red string."
"Junhui probably knew it the minute he saw you."
"Saw what?"
"That you were his destined soul mate."
"B-But how is that possible? He can't see the strings."
"You don't need to see the strings to know." Mingyu sighs. "Take those two for example." He points towards the couple who was giggling in the corner of the cafe.
"Their strings are connected." Minghao says.
"Stop focusing on the strings." Mingyu hits Minghao's head. "Those two are named Boo Seungkwan and Lee Hi. They can't see the red strings, but the minute they saw each other - they knew they would be soulmates."
"Their string is a bit darker than usual. Did something happen to their original soulmate?"
Mingyu took another sip of his coffee. "Well Seungkwan's soulmate was meant to be a male but he died a long time ago so I decided to pair him up with Hi. She was never meant to have a soulmate."
"You paired them together even though you weren't meant to..."
Minghao looks back at the couple and then to Mingyu.
"What happened to Seungkwan's original soulmate?"
"They used to be friends when they were younger. His father moved him away suddenly, and they never saw each other since. Sadly, the other boy suicided."
Minghao looked sad and pitiful.
Mingyu softened eyes his. "They were both depressed, fucked up people. I wanted to help them but I only managed to save one. Now look at him. He's truely happy, isn't he?"
Minghao nodded and sighed. "What are you trying to tell me?"
"What I'm trying to say, is that even if you are connected to someone else or if you don't have any strings attached, you can still fall in love."
"I guess that's true."
"The strings are there just for the two soulmates to find each other." Mingyu says again. "Do you get it now?"
Minghao furrows his eyebrows. "But I still don't understand! Junhui doesn't act like he likes me anymore."
Mingyu smiled. "Do you like him, Minghao?"
Minghao stayed silent for a while and eyed his hot chocolate.
"I think I do. He's one of the most aesthetic, most amazing person I know. "
Mingyu nodded. "Then why don't you talk to him about it?"
"Then what happens after I do? What will happen to the strings?"
"That's up to me to decide."
Minghao gives Mingyu a worried look.
Mingyu just winks and grabs his coffee.
"I'll be watching you and how you handle the situation."
And then he disappears again.- Seungkwan's soulmate was meant to be Hansol but he suicided. I wrote this before I heard about the news about an idol actually suiciding so please don't think that I would write about an idol's suicide just to benefit myself. My heart aches for Jonghyun and I pray that he's happier where he is now -
