*This oneshot is inspired by the Archie Comics characters when they were quite young. Veronica hasn't moved to Riverdale yet though*

"Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet." - Bob Marley

"Betty!" Archie groaned. Betty sat in front of the read-headed boy, mascara brush in hand. "Archie, the less you move the faster I'll be done," Betty replied simply, with a slight hint of smugness in her usual genuine voice. "Yeah Arch, listen to her! Do you see that weapon she's holding so close to your face?" Jughead mused from the corner of the small treehouse they were currently in. The three of them had been inseparable ever since they were just toddlers. Now, they were starting sixth grade and they are still as close as ever. The summer had been exceptionally warm this year so everyone was glad that Riverdale was getting a massive downpour, except our three heroes.

Betty quickly brushed the mascara against the Andrews boy's stubby eyelashes and looked at him with a look that an artist would give their greatest masterpiece. "There, all done," Betty said smartly. Jughead looked at this best friend with a smirk so big it almost looked unhealthy. "Now onto my next victim," Betty exclaimed dramatically. Jughead's smirk had now been wiped off and betty was now the one wearing it. "Oh, I don't think so Betts..." Jughead trailed off, genuinely scared. He had quite literally cornered himself and now he had to pay for the snarky remarks he made about Archie while he was being 'beautified' by the blonde who was now bringing a menacing makeup kit over to Jughead.

"Oh no, this isn't good. She can't find out like this..." Jughead thought to himself. he was now trying to formulate an escape plan while squirming to get away from an extremely determined Betty. He shuffled and rolled around against the wood that made the small box that sat in the oak tree in the Cooper family's backyard. Betty was stronger than Jughead thought and she pinned him against the ground, ending up straddling his waist. She thought nothing of it, but Jughead was panicking inside, "This is not helping." All he could do was roll his eyes as Archie bursts out laughing from behind the pair. Betty giggles too and grabs her favourite lipstick shade from the makeup bag and leans closer to the raven haired boy's face, squinting a little bit from the limited amount of light coming from the foggy windows. "Betty! Please -hmph- No! -mmm- Argh!" Jughead pleaded for mercy, but the ruthless betty kept applying the red wax to the boy's lips. "Juggie! Quit squirming! I'm almost done!" Betty reasoned, but Jughead wasn't having it.

With all of his strength, Jughead tried to lift Betty off of him, but to no avail. Betty came back down, giggling and screaming onto Jughead and now their legs were all tangled up. Jughead was even more uncomfortable than he was before, with Betty being even closer to him, a slightly red tint started to travel up the young boy's neck. Archie was howling with laughter when his father came out and told him that it was time to come inside. "See you lovebirds tomorrow!" were his last words to his friends as he clambered down the ladder and hopped over the fence to the north of the tree house. The three friends were lucky to have houses with backyards all facing one another. Betty laughed and returned to smothering Jughead with crimson lipstick. Jughead however was frozen in place, just staring at Betty.

Betty sat upright, and climbed off of a dazed Jughead and set the lipstick back where it belonged, this was her mother's, so she had to do a good job putting everything back where she found it. She turned back around, towards her red-faced and red-lipped friend and said, "Red is definitely your colour, Jones" the smile evident in her voice. She then leaned slightly closer to Jughead, as if subconsciously teasing him, and bounced one of her delicate fingers off his obviously blushed nose. A sharp voice stopped the young Jones boy from closing the distance between him and one of his best friends, "Betty! time to come inside!" Betty whipped her head around, hitting Jughead in the face with her soft blonde ponytail. "Be right there Mom!" Betty replied quickly, before turning back around quickly and placing her bubble-gum-pink lips on his forehead before grabbing the makeup bag and hopping out of the treehouse, but not before whispering a "See you tomorrow Jug," into his ear.

Jughead thought that he would melt into a pile of putty on the spot. His long-time crush had just kissed him! on the forehead, while saying goodbye, " I shouldn't be reading into this as much as I am right now, the girl likes Archie! that's common knowledge." The boy sighs defeatedly and mopes his way all the way to his bedroom, before falling asleep knowing he'll have sweet dreams about the most beautiful girl next door there ever was.
