Chapter Ten: Missing You

Karen had been staring at the door handle of her and Dee Dee's room, for what must have been more than five minutes. She simply could not bring herself to open the door. She had never felt so guilty, and yet so incredibly satisfied at the same time, in her entire twenty four years on this earth.

"It's now or never." Karen says, entering the hotel room.

"Hey. I missed you." Dee Dee says, walking towards Karen.

"Hi." Karen says, nervously.

Dee Dee slowly brings his head closer to Karen's, she knows what's coming, but it's not as if she can just turn away. Dee Dee takes some of Karen's hair and moves it behind her ear. He brings his head even closer to hers. He presses his lips to Karen's, and she feels absolutely nothing. She doesn't kiss him back. He pulls away, and she turns around, so she's no longer facing him.

"Baby, what's wrong?" Dee Dee asks.

"It's nothing. I just have a bit of a headache." Karen says, turning around to face Dee Dee.

"You don't have to lie. You're still upset, about me taking off the other day. I understand, and I'm sorry." Dee Dee says, hugging Karen.

"It's ok." Karen says, hugging him back.

"The concert starts soon, so I'm gonna take a quick nap." Karen tells Dee Dee, before laying down in the bed.

"Ok." Dee Dee says, before leaving for sound check.

Karen falls asleep still thinking of both Dee Dee and Joey. On one hand, she's positive she's falling in love with Joey. On the other hand, she finally has Dee Dee, whom she's wanted for all these years.

Karen is awoken by the feeling of a soft kiss being placed on her lips.

"Dee Dee?" She asks, still groggy.

"Who else would it be, silly?" Dee Dee, asks smiling.

Karen opens her eyes to find Dee Dee standing before her. Deep down, she was hoping to see Joey. She hopes she can spend time with him later, but knows, she will eventually have to choose between the two.

"Yeah. Who else would it be?" Karen repeats nervously.

"Come on. It's time for work, beautiful." Dee Dee says, helping Karen out of bed.

It is now time for the concert. Well, technically, the concert will begin at eight, which is in ten minutes. Dee Dee comes over to Karen to get his kiss. Although, her heart isn't in it, she obliges. After that, he is called over by Johnny.

Joey uses this as an opportunity to speak with Karen.

"I just want you to know, when i sing 'I wanna be your boyfriend', tonight, I'll be thinking of you." Joey smiles, and then walks away.

Karen probably wouldn't be there to see the performance, but she would surely hear it from where she was selling merchandise. Though, she so missed getting to see the concerts in their entirety.

Karen and Arturo are selling merchandise, the during  the concert. Karen can hear the Ramones start to perform "I wanna be your boyfriend", the minute she heard Joey's voice, karen begins to melt. Arty can see the lovestruck look on Karen's face.

"Someone is going to get hurt." Arturo says looking at Karen.

"What?" Karen says, surprised.

"I Saw you two together, You and Joey. I saw you go into his hotel room."

"That doesn't mean anything!" Karen says, panicking.

"There is no need to lie to me, Karen. You just need to ask yourself, who do you really want to be with? Because what you're doing right now, isn't fair to anyone."

The concert had now ended. Due to the awkward conversation between Arty and Karen earlier, the two had spent the remainder of their time working in silence. They have now just finished packing everything up.

"Hey baby." Dee Dee says, hugging Karen.

"Hi. Great show, tonight." She says, hugging him back.

"You think so?" He smiles.

"Listen. I wanna take you Somewhere nice. What do you say?"

"Dee Dee, that sounds great. It really does. It's just, I can't. I have to do inventory with Arty." Karen says, looking back, quickly at Arturo.

"That's right. We have to do inventory." Arturo says, covering for Karen.

"Ok. I guess I'll just go hang out with the roadies and have some beers."see you later, babe. Dee Dee says, giving Karen a quick kiss on the cheek.

At long last, Karen was back at the hotel. This meant she could finally see Joey. This was what her heart had been aching for. Karen is extra careful on her way to Joey's room.

Karen knocks on Joey's door, and he opens it immediately, and grabs Karen by the hand, pulling her inside and closing the door.

Karen smiles at Joey. This is the first genuine smile she's given anyone all day long. Finally, she didn't have to lie, or pretend anymore for the rest of the night.

"I've missed you so much!" Joey tells her.

"Less talking, more kissing." Karen says, pulling Joey towards her.

Joey pins Karen against the wall that they're standing next to. As Joey and Karen gaze into one another's eyes, she can't help but think, this is what she's been waiting for all day. Her breathing becomes heavier by the second, and her heart is pounding insanely fast. Finally, their lips press together, ever so gently. Moans and sighs are being let out by both parties, as clothes are falling to the floor.
