Chapter Twelve: Anarchy in LA

As Karen enters the van she can feel everyone watching her, and she can hear the echoes of whispers from the other roadies. All of this makes her feel dirty and cheap. This is a feeling she just can't seem to shake. She watches Dee Dee, as he takes his usual seat, without her. She takes a seat all the way in the back. She doesn't know why, but she begins to sob quietly. It wasn't supposed to turn out like this.

Joey can see Karen's tears falling from her eyes into her hands, and he comes to join her in the back of the van. Dee Dee sees this as well, and refuses to remain quiet.

"Wow! You just couldn't wait till you got back to the fucking hotel room, could you Karen?" Dee Dee shouts.

"Are you seriously being this immature?" Karen asks wiping the tears on her sleeve.

"Shut the fuck up, already asshole!" Joey says, jumping to Karen's defense.

"Children! Children! That's enough! We're about to start moving. Everyone take your seats." Monte says, as he starts the engine.

Everyone was quiet when they arrived at the Holiday inn in Los Angeles. Karen was terribly distraught over how chaotic the break up turned out. It was now eleven at night, and everyone was extremely tired, to say the least. Karen just wanted to end the day peacefully, if that was at all possible.

"Joey, I think just for tonight, we should get separate rooms." Karen whispers in Joey's ear.

"No. That's not necessary. If Dee Dee can't accept that we're together now, then that's just too bad." Joey says, as the new couple walk to their hotel room.

Meanwhile, a newly heartbroken Dee Dee has a few questions for Johnny.

"Did you have to say all those things to Karen, Johnny?" Dee Dee yells.

"What are you yelling at me for? I did you a favor!" Johnny yells back.

"Remember, we got a show in less than twenty four hours. I need you to be sober. You gonna be alright?"
Johnny asks.

"What do you care?" Dee Dee says, walking away.

By the time Karen and Joey awoke it was already ten, the next morning. As Karen watched Joey sleeping peacefully, she couldn't help but kiss his luscious lips, just once. Joey wakes up and yawns, before greeting Karen.

"Good morning, beautiful." He says, as he reaches for his rose colored glasses.

"Good morning to you, too. So, I heard you and Tommy talking about some big band that's supposed to be opening up for you guys, at  tonight's show. Who is it?" Karen asks, curiously.

"The Sex Pistols." Joey says casually.

"Oh! I've always wanted to see them!" Karen exclaims.

"Too bad. You'll be working." Joey laughs.

Karen laughs, as she playfully hits Joey with a pillow.

"Maybe I can at least introduce you to them, though."

"That would be great, Joey! Thanks." Karen says with huge smile.

After getting dressed, Joey and Karen begin walking down the stairs, they are now entering the patio area. She can see Sid Vicious standing, and talking with someone who appears to be sitting in a chair.  When the man sitting in the chair stands, the smile on Karen's face fades, when she sees that it's Dee Dee.

"I'm back, all, and I've brought us some more beer!" Johnny says.

Karen was just about to turn around, And go back to her hotel room, when Johnny Rotten showed up.

"We don't have to hide from Dee Dee. You wanted to meet the Sex Pistols, so let's go meet them." Joey tells Karen, as he takes her by the hand.

"Hey Joey! Have a beer!" Sid says, tossing Joey a beer.

"Thanks. Anyway, this is Karen, she's a fan of yours. So, this is Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious, and Steve Jones. There's supposed to be a fourth one." Joey says, scratching his head.

"Paul? He's off, shagging some chick in the bathroom." Johnny laughs.

"It was really great meeting you all." Karen blushes.

Sid smiles at Karen and winks, and she pretends not to notice.

She looks at Dee Dee, so it doesn't seem like she's ignoring him. Though it seems as if he's purposely ignoring her.

"Well, we'll see you guys later. We're going to have breakfast, now."

Joey chugs his beer quickly, before they leave.

Karen is now on her way to her hotel room, to get some sunblock for Joey, who is waiting by the pool. When she sees a shirtless Sid, who is kicking his door and screaming profanities at it.

"Fucking bloody door! Why won't you bloody open?" Sid screams.

"What happened to your key? And your shirt?" Karen asks, confused.

"I lost it. I'm not sure about the shirt." Sid mumbles.

"So ask for another one."

"They won't give it to me. The fuckers tried to make me leave. They said I was being obnoxious."

Karen helps Sid up, and they enter her and Joey's hotel room.

"Here, you can come in here, until you sober up a little." Karen says, closing the door behind them.
