"Saffron have you-"
"Remembered my robes and my toiletries? Yes, I have. And, before you ask, I've already said goodbye to Ben,"
Mrs Malfoy frowned.
"Saffron, I don't want you using your mind-reading too much at school. It really-"
"Freaks people out? Don't worry, Mum, I can read you like a book!"
Mrs Malfoy tutted. They got into the car, and they sped off towards King's Cross Station.
Half-an-hour later, Saffron was racing into the platform, her mum following behind. They had 2 minutes before the train set off.
Saffron gave her mum a quick kiss goodbye and raced off onto the train.
"Be safe! Make good choices!" Mrs Malfoy frantically called from behind.
On the train, Saffron walked through the compartments. She passed three boys, who frowned at the sight of her. She could tell they were thinking how weird she was. She was about to say something but, remembering what her mum said, held her tongue.
She walked until she reached an empty compartment. She sat down, took out her book on the use of Legilimency and began to read.
A few minutes later, a girl slid open the door. Her hair was tangled, her clothes were ripped and there were dark circles under her eyes.
The girls view dropped to the cover of the book.
"Before you ask, yes I'm a Legilimens, yes this compartment is free and no the train doesn't leave for 5 minutes,"
The girl stood still for a second, then grinned.
"Well, that answered all my questions," she smiled.
The two girls began to talk. The girl said her name was Beth, and that her mum was a Squib and therefore didn't believe Beth when she said she got a letter. Her mum thought there had been a mix up and wouldn't let Beth leave. She ran away from home when her Mum was asleep.
"Don't you have any things?" Saffron asked.
"No, just the clothes on my back." Her cockney accent and her dirty clothes would have repelled most Purebloods, but Saffron was intrigued.
Four hours later, a Legilimens and a Cockney got of the Hogwarts Express and stepped into Hogwarts in all its glory.
