Hazels POV
Beep, beep, beep, I slam my hand on the clock. Ugh got to get Cody up. Cody is my
younger brother, and unlike me he gets to have freedom. I walk around the hall and
down stairs. I bang on the door, "Cody wake up." He's fourteen and I'm sixteen. We
are both werewolfs, and I'm the best out of the 20 wolves in our pack. "Hazel why did
you have to get me up now." Cody asked with his eyes drooping. "Dad said y'all are
going to see what the Ozones are up to. So get up." I said very sturn. Ever since our
mother died, I have treated Cody like he's my son. I feel bad sometimes when I have to
yell at him.
I try and sneak outside to go for a run. "Hazel." I turn to see my dad furious. "Hey dad.
You can't go out without supervision, how many times do I have to tell you that." I look
at him and give him a pouty face. "Go to your room." I growl and head upstairs. My
dad doesn't let me go EVER, because he's afraid he will loose me like my mom. "Hey
sis?" Cody comes in my room. "Yeah, what is it?" He looked down and said, "Don't
ever growl at dad again."
"I know your going to be Alpha someday, but you can't talk to your sister that way!" I
growl at him and my wolf tells me to shift. "Don't you yell at me, I'm going to be your
Alpha someday. Look." His voice calmed, "Dad just can't loose you too." He walked out
the door. I wish dad would give me a chance. I can do stuff on my own. He doesn't
need to baby me. "Let's go." Says Naomi, my best friend. "Where we going? Your dad
said you could go outside if I stay with you." It was ok having her. I didn't mind it. She
was my only real friend in the pack house.
We got outside and I shifted. I was pure white. My fur glistened when I ran. Blue eyes
that sparkles and changed to my emotion. We took off. I ran way past her. I was at
least 5 mph faster than her, but she knew that. I kept running, and running, until I
knew I was way past her. I slammed my breaks and she came trotting up. "Want to
race?" I said playfully. "Sorry, but I think we know who would win." We both laughed
for a while.
I loved being a wolf, it seemed like nothing else mattered. I wish dad would just let me
go out alone, just once. She looked over and through our link she said, "We should get
back we are very far from the pack house." When she said that she knew I
wanted to stay. "I guess when I get back I'll have to do school." I was homeschooled.
Everyone was in our pack. This was because the nearest school was filled with Ozone
wolves.
Their pack is our enemy. I heard their old Alpha killed my mother, but my dad killed
him. He was replaced by his son. I heard he is a real jerk. My birthday was in a few
weeks, but my dad told me he was giving my gift to me early. I couldn't imagine what it
might be, maybe he just wanted to get it over with. I walked in the house after putting
on my clothes outside behind a tree.
When I walked in the house my dad handed me a geography textbook and said, "Read
pages 48 through 67." Ugh I hated geography. I read about Europe, and the United
States. When I was done it was 10:30 at night and my dad said, "Go get in bed hun." I
walked up to the room and put on some shorts and a tank top. I leaped on the bed and
snuggled into my body pillow. It was soft as silk.
When I woke up in the morning I realized, it was Saturday. "Yes no school." I got out of
bed and walked down stairs. "Happy birthday!" My dad exclaimed handing me a note.
"Thanks dad." I opened the note and it said stay safe. I turned around to see the front
door wide open. I hugged him and ran out the door and shifted, Not even thinking
about my clothes.
This must be a dream. I thought to myself. I can't believe I'm out alone. The Ozone
pack must not be up to anything. It was 7:00 am so I had at least 5 hours until the
teens would wake up. I started to run. I wanted to see every corner of our
territory. I started going straight it took a while for me to run around all the edges. It
probably took 4 hours. I still haven't see the lake my parents met at.
My dad never spoke about my mom, but he did tell me they met at the lake. Nothing
more. I kept going until finally I saw my reflection staring at me. This must be it. I
smelled around. "Yup this is defiantly dad's scent." I laid down where I smelled my
mom scent and slept for a while. When I woke up it was 4:00 pm. "Oh shoot my dad
will kill me." I started to run back, when I heard a twig snap. "Pretty far from home
princess." Said a wolf with golden fur.
"I must have lost track of time." Two other wolves circled around the back side of me.
"So which heard you from?" They asked, but I knew they already knew. "Winter." I
replied with power. "Well your going to have to come with us." I started to run, but a
wolf jumped on my back. I turned back and scratched the wolfs face, leaving three
deep wounds. Sadly werewolves heal very fast. So it only took a minute to jump
right back at me. The other wolf grabbed a rock and banged my head with it.
Everything went black.
When I woke up, I was dressed I some shorts and a T shirt. I looked around I was in a
room with no windows, just a door. I walked to the door, but a female wolf came in.
"Your coming with me." I looked at her, she had black short bobbed hair and green
eyes. "Where am I going? To meet the Alpha." I thought to myself I must be in the
Ozone pack house.
She grabbed my hand, took me to a door, and put me in the room. I didn't dare look at
the Alpha, but I knew, he is going to kill me.
