"What?!" Kearn blurted out with the wrist blade still in front of him. The man laughed and pushed it closer.

"Please try it one, I worked hard on it for you," He started as kearn slowly took one of them and slipped it over his left wrist.

"My mentor was the builder of the hidden blades, I tried, but they were never that good. I hope this at least works ." He said smiling. Kearn put the ring on his ring finger and sat there not knowing what to do. Like a little kid given a toy, they've never seen. "Put your ring and middle finger together like this," he then proceeded to show Kearn what to do. "Then pull your hand back pulling the string that way too." He said showing the motions, Kearn did, and instantly the blade flung out scaring him a small bit. When he moved his hand back, the knife went back in, amazed he kept doing it, trying to keep it out. The man sat there and laughed a little watching the recruit struggle with the blade.

"Aarrrggggg! How do you keep this thing out?" He asked with a mixture of bark and pleading.

"Do what you've been doing to bring it out then hold it there for a few seconds, it'll click than hold." He answered trying not to laugh. Kearn did and, voilà, the blade stayed in place. Kearn pulled his hand back, and the knife flew back in. Once satisfied both kearn and the man stood up.

"By the way my name is Brandon." He said holding out his hand. Kearn smiled and grabbed Brandon's hand and shock. "Now you should be getting home, make sure to hide those blades of yours." Kearn awkwardly smiled and rolled his sleeves up over than.

"Guess that's better than nothing," he said shrugging. Brandon nodded in approval.

The two walked down the corridor and towards the entrance of the Manor. Kearn learned that they were in the Sacred Forest. Kearn had been in there before, but very deep. It was a thirty-minute walk to the edge of town, then a bus ride home. The bus was quiet, kearn looked out the window seeing the forest trees disappear behind him. Brandon asked to see him again after school the next day. They would begin training them.

When Kearn got to his house, everything was normal. His mom, marry, and his dad, Kendall, was sitting on the couch closer to each other. They were watching the news when he walked in.

"In other news. The two rapists that have been attacking women in our city were apprehended just a few hours ago." The news reporter said. "What we do know is that the victim was saved by a mistress man that was quoted as saying He dropped from above and rescued her, whoever this man is we hope he is still out there protecting people" He finished. Kearn smiled before going to his room and laying o bed and pulled his left hand back making the blade fly out. The sound pleased Kearn, for an unknown reason but it did. He dragged his index finger over the edge of the knife, gently.

He stayed there, on his bed for the next few hours. His mom called for dinner sometime around seven. Kearn never ate much, just a little to get him through the day. He didn't starve himself. Kearn just wasn't hungry a lot. Kearn stayed in his room and did a few small tasks to help him get used to the cold steel pressed against his wrists. Now and then he'd pull his hands back and watch the blades fly out smoothly.

Night came soon and when it did Kearn wrapped his blade in his jacket and neatly set it on his dresser. Sleeping in itself, was a nightmare. He tossed and turned for hours. Kearn wondered what his life would be like the next day, a week from now, a year from now. He drifted off wondering.

That morning everything was normal: Kearns alarm rang. He heard Lucas call him from downstairs, and he got up looking for his clothes. He had forgotten entirely about the stuff that happened the day before until he grabbed his jacket. Seizing it quickly and unrolled it making the hidden blade fall and clang against the ground.
